The Patriots' Priorities thread is already 4 pages long less than 24 hours after the season has ended. Creating a central tracking point for news on players and personnel. I expect we're going to see more coaching changes for the Patriots than normal. I also think we're likely to see retirement from a few long time players (I'm looking at McCourty and Slater here).

Who was the last coach BB outright shitcanned? I feel like most of the defections are hires to other organizations or retirements. I won't be surprised if MP and Achord are in the same coaching positions come July 2023.

Degugliemo comes immediately to mind. I imagine he’s let go some lower profile folks. Part of the “issue” is his OCs and DCs kept getting HC gigs and they took a bunch of lesser position guys with them while a bunch of the stalwarts that stayed had worked with BB forever and weren’t leaving (Fears, Scar, etc.). That and the winning.

Dean Pees after 2009? It was reported Pees decided not to pursue a renewal but from what I remember of that season it was mutual.

You might be right, but given how precious STs are to Bill, I would be shocked if Achord was in the same role next year. Of course the shitty kicking situation didn’t help, but those two returns yesterday had to be the final nail in his coffin.

Yeah, I don't really know the full deal with Bailey, but anyone blaming Belichick for the Jack Jones situation appears to be seriously misguided. You don't slough on your rehab and then give Belichick lip about it and expect it to go over well.

Well, we know the 3 uninformed speculators on that video segment hate Bailey's coach. Jack Jones misses meetings and rehab assignments? Must be Belichick's fault.
Ted also made an assumption that Jack Jones spoke back to BB in front of the entire team which was not what Breer said at all (Breer said that he thought that Jones spoke back and also that BB addressed the entire team about it-two different things).

My worth -what-it-costs you speculation is that both Jones and Bailey blew off some amount of rehab in the xmas-new years week, Jones told BB it's not a big deal or whatever, and BB game down heavily because the same issue happened twice and he wanted to send a message.

All Ted Johnson does is gripe about BB. He's a meathead and looks like Thanos.

The Bailey situation is suspicious though.

I would not be surprised if Bailey was battling something all season; punters don't just lose all their leg strength at 26. But the Pats have never suspended players just to save on the cap. So while there may very well be more to the Bailey story, the cheap talk show takez that uncritically repeat the agent-speak as gospel are likely to be way off.

Ted Johnson is a piece of crap. Wouldn't listen to a single word out of that clown's mouth. Not giving anything with him a click or view. Wish Wilfork popped him back in Houston.

Yeah, we'll see how it progresses with Bailey. Not much to see at the moment.

So they hate their coach?
No, but if there was a disagreement between Bailey and the Patriots about his readiness and that led to the next year of his contract being voided I can see why he might file a grievance.

I actually do not blame Ted Johnson for having a lot of anger towards BB based on some of the stories about what happened. It was obviously a different era in terms of how teams/coaches thought about head injuries, but if Ted is suffering like so many other players who had multiple concussions, I'm sure it is of little consolation to him that it was the norm for a coach like BB to make Johnson practice soon after a concussion. But, he has such a transparent agenda against BB that it has become pretty irresponsible for any media outlet to put him on the air to talk about the Pats. Not that it will stop any of them, but it isn't worth taking anything Johnson says about the Pats at face value.

Appears Kraft has decided things need to change with how they operate
Curran reported that Belichick recognized they needed to make changes.
Press release certainly seems different.

Excited to see that they may hold onto Mayo. Whatever him and Steve are doing. It's working.

Well this is the most shocking thing to come from the Pariots in a long time. Appears Kraft has decided things need to change with how they operate. This is great news all around. So weird for them to announce things so specifically.
Announced just as Mayo is being asked to interview for the Panthers HC job. So if he gets one of those jobs, it’s all kinda moot, no?

Mayo for 2023 OC? I kid.
You joke but first glance I thought it said that. Figured it was an Onion spoof or something

Could be. I believe he's had at least one other interview as well. Still, seems like they won't lose him to a DC gig.

my guess would be that the extension is about keeping him from leaving for a job like the CLE DC job, and wouldn't prevent him from taking a HC job.
