Colombian pitcher Cuevas was described as being part of the 2018 Sox. Really hard to believe, with an over 7. ERA for that year. My mind is a sieve, I guess, but I don't remember him, at all.

This is how bored I am today (between novels): I actually clapped hard when the Brits tied up the game in the bottom of the fourth against Colombia.
It’s a big game for the US hopes of advancing, a GBR win would mean if the US wins their last two, they advance.

As I type, GBR goes up 5-3!

Some 20 year old kid gets Urshela and Alfaro with two runners on in the 7th, still 5-3 GBR, bottom 7.

I have not watched a single pitch of this until today, and it was the pitch to Harry Ford that just got crunched to left.

Is the PBP guy on this game related to Bob Costas? I can look it up (and will) - but his cadence and word choice can’t be a coincidence. It sounds like someone trying to sound like Costas.

Rich Waltz, he cited Costas as his main influence:

“ Waltz said he admired the work of national announcers such as Bob Costas and Al Michaels, as well as local talent such as Bill King, Lon Simmons, Hank Greenwald, Vin Scully and Bob Stark”

I actually was sure the other guy (Buck Martinez) was Jim Kaat before just checking, heh.

Now the US controls their fate again, two wins and they advance.

US seems to have gotten a wakeup call, 6 in the 1st and still going.

Nicaragua scores one in the first over former Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. (Well, I was wrong. I was distracted and would have sworn the guy had scored. They had men all over the bases, but got out of it with a double play.)

You were just an inning early, you're ahead of your time. :)

Canada is up 2-0 on Colombia in the 8th, but Freddie Freeman left with a hamstring issue.

That's a shame about Freeman. Canada is up 5-0 now. It would take a great effort to lose the game in the bottom of the ninth, but Colombia has the lead-off man on.
