Yeah, it would have been too little too late, but Fry taking four balls but striking out looking at a 2-2 pitch was ridiculous.

Kerry Carpenter is a beast. I am a huge fan.
I've been sold since he was in AA; his consistency of hard contact is incredible. Watching his highlights even then it was remarkable to see him hit those hard drives to the outfield seemingly every at bat. Just an absolute extra base machine. Given health and a full season next year and I think he puts up 35+ HRs in the heart of that Tigers lineup.

It just occurred to me that because they get the shaft on every single start time, the next time I actually get to watch this series is going to be maybe the 7th inning of Game #4.

Cleveland and Detroit media markets and relative lack of casual fan star power on the teams are irrelevant when you compare to NYC/Philly/Socal is why
They were never going to demote Yankees, Mets/Phillies or the Dodgers

Yah, you could have just quoted the #2 post in this thread, which already explained that and was posted by me. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Also, they don't even need to be up against New York and LA teams, Cleveland gets this treatment every single #@$*ing time unless they're playing the Yankees or Red Sox.

You can switch allegiances from the Guardians to the Red Sox or something. As it stands the Gurdians are probably the least relevant media market in the AL eastern time zone (I guess you have to hope the other ALDS series is Rays Tigers or something) so yeah you’re right, they’ll get this treatment almost every time.

Also hope the Reds or Pirates become good in the other league so maybe there is favorable time for WC round (but then you have a worse seed/play another round)

Good luck in the next series should the Guardians and Yankees both advance.

Yeah, it's nuts that I'll probably miss the end of this game when I run off to the Mets.
Anyway, it's on TBS at 3:08.

Montero is a young pitcher. According to mlbnow, they would be thrilled to have him give them three innings. Seems like a strange way to start an important game.

So many games. By the time they get around to the one I have the most interest in by far (Dodgers at Padres) I could be punchdrunk with baseball. Don’t have to watch, I know.

Mistake to remove the kid. The new pitcher, Hurter (!) gives up 2 singles, no outs so far.
Edit: big strike zone now. Has this ump always calls that pitch to the left of the zone?

I'd have challenged that sac fly and thrown to third, felt like Rogers left too early on the tag up.
Yes. These games seem both over and under managed. On the one hand, there's lot of switching up of pitchers and switch hitters. On the other hand, there don't seem to be as many challenges as one would expect.

Kwan is so good. He is one of the best players in baseball both offensively and defensively, my untrained eye has decided. Don't know his numbers, but he's fun to watch.

bWAR vehemently agrees with your eyes

A stellar 4.9 bWAR/162 in his career despite a pedestrian .396 SLG

Beau Brieske is a two ton man-mountain who can palm a medicine ball!

21 innings without a run. 2 runs in the last 26 innings. Cleveland is in deep shit

Not liking this at all from a YED perspective unless the Tigers can figure out a way to pitch Skubel four times in the ALCS. Was also rooting for Cleveland to get off their 76 year WS schneid.

Monday felt like a game Cleveland would pull out, but today it was over today before it started. Another one of their patented weekday afternoon no-shows. I don't know what it is, but it's why they haven't won a double-header game in a year and a half. They would have lost to the White Sox today.

I couldn't disagree with what Vogt did all season long, but he's been overmanaging the playoffs.
