I liked it better when I didn't know it was a THING.
To be fair, I knew the Bears were done with this season pretty early when their QB got smoked by a free rusher, then the rusher helped him up because none of his teammates rushed over. Happened to Swift too. You see it in the NBA too, if guys aren't rushing over to help up their guys after a play it usually means it's a team playing out the string.

There are moral victories and then there's this...

But hey, helping your teammates up is better than not. Let's hope their next metric is how many guys participate in end zone celebrations.

Pats may be signing a PK to their practice squad. Perhaps with an eye towards next year? He did well for the Vikes while their regular K was out. And hey, he played for the San Antonio Brahmas!

@MikeGarafol

The #Patriots are expected to sign K John Parker Romo to the practice squad, one day after he cleared waivers from the #Vikings, sources say. Romo went 11-for-12 on field-goal attempts for Minnesota while Will Reichard was injured. Latches on quickly in New England.

Random, but does anyone know when the schedule will be solidified for the weekend after Christmas? I'm going to the game against the Chargers but it is still listed as TBD. I don't think it will be flexed to Thursday, but Saturday seems like a definite possibility.

The Patriots are 14 point underdogs at Buffalo next week. Pretty sure it’s the largest time they have been underdogs since Super Bowl 36.

I am surprised it's not more. The Giants were 16 point underdogs at home to Baltimore yesterday. (They didn't cover).

Though, we have a better QB and the books seem to still think our defense isn't terrible.

If I'm Buffalo, I rest starters this week anyway. I mean, why not? Throw them in if it actually turns out you need to.

As bad as it is, our offense is better than a Cutlets/Boyle led Giants offense. And the Bills defense is a tick worse than the Ravens. I could see the Bills being up 21 points late and allowing Drake to produce a backdoor push. But what does it matter, because if your team is getting more than 10 points, it's a sign they're pretty bad.

I would definitely sit him this Saturday, and if they somehow beat the Texans with Wentz, sit him against the Steelers as well.

It would be wild if Wentz led the Chefs to a SB championship with Mahomes sidelined after Foles did that to him seven years ago.
High ankle sprain is usually 3 weeks, if it's bad. So probably not Wentz in January and February.

Tim Boyle having an NFL career is amazing.

In three years at UConn he had 1 TD and 13 INTs. Then he transferred to EKU where in one season he had 11 TDs and 13 more INTs. And, in his NFL career, he's thrown 13 more picks, and only 5 TDs. His college and NFL numbers are 17 TDs and 39 INTs.

That's astounding. He must be really good at memorizing playbooks, because otherwise I can't think of why teams keep signing him. At some point you'd think teams would go "we know how this turns out, and it's not good".

Chiefs just started a stretch of three games in 11 days, which ends on Christmas Day against the Steelers. It'll be a test for Mahomes/Reid for sure

He apparently knows the plays, just not where to throw it.

I guess.

Pro Bowl Rosters announced.

No Gonzalez which seems weird. Brenden Schooler is the only Patriot at this point.

Gonzo's reaction

3 players to the IR for the final game: Peppers, Ben Brown and Polk. All 3 had been reported as not practicing due to injuries, so stands to reason to get them off the roster to allow some PS guys a shot. Gonzo has also been out with a concussion, and I'd expect him to sit with Operation First Overall underway.

And those PS guys added to the active roster: TE Jack Westover, LB Monty Rice, DE Truman Jones and CB Miles Battle.

Polk finishes the year with 87 fucking yards. 13 since Maye was named the starter.
In fairness, 87 is a great number…

But, yeah, the scary thing is he played in 15 games and had that production. Shoot, even N’Keal had 105 his rookie season in 8 fewer games.

Yeah, the argument early on was that his advanced stats were elite and that it want his fault, Brissett sucks! But yeah, oof. Hard to believe that he was actually a lot worse than Harry and Thornton.

I'm not at the same point as others in calling him a bust, but it sure looks like it. Just have to hope he does something, anything, in year 2.
