Bryson made a business decision that I disagree with, but his love of the game, his cerebral and curiousity-based approach to his craft and his recent turn towards something resembling humility makes me kind of like the guy. Plus, I got him late in the SOSH fantasy golf league so I’m kind of forced to root for him.

Did Bryson have an ear piece in walking to the tee? Anyone else notice that?

edit - he took it out on the tee box. Maybe noise cancellation ear buds ir something.

Wow. That shot on 5 by Rory looked fantastic and he got screwed by the roll into the waste area.

The golf course is ass. Looks like a safely placed shot in the middle of the green for Rory and it rolls all the way into the shit.
I guess it's the US Open and all that good stuff, but this rolling off the green is a little crazy.
When pros are putting into sand traps and hitting irons into the center of the green, rolling into dirt, it seems like luck will play more of a role than skill.

It’s not luck. You don’t miss short or left on 5. They know that. Rory mishit his approach just a bit and he paid for it. He knew he had to get up to pin high to stay on the green. Then get a bad break with the lie.

Great shorts get rewarded, shots that are just off get punished.

I suppose you are right, but the punishment seems to be random based on what kind of lie you get in that crap.

I know they don’t like US Open winning (72 hole) scores to be 10-15 shots or more under par, but these greens they’re describing as upside down salad bowls, or the greens play virtually a lot smaller than their real dimensions, seems like a gimmicky way to keep scores from being crazy low. I prefer Pebble Beach, for one.

I like Pebble but Pinehurst blows it out of the water.

I’m ok with that, too. Just don’t ask to be accepted back for the All Star Game and World Series. You‘ve got your own Diamond crusted playground to play in.
These aren't PGAT events so I dont see what your point is.

I like Pebble but Pinehurst blows it out of the water.
Kinda feels unfair to compare the two... They're radically different styles of courses.

Yankee Stadium is radically different than Fenway and I feel comfortable taking the view that Yankee stadium is a soulless piece of shit and Fenway is awesome and blows it out of the water.

Bryson misses every fairway and every lie is as great a you could ever ask for, he has the horseshoe today.
I don’t know on this one. You can see the ball sitting on the Sandy soil, but there seemed to be some healthy looking wire grass his club has to go through. But, he’ll probably hit it 20 feet from the hole.

Look, I get why the USOC doesn’t want Bryson representing the flag given the LIV bullshit, but boy, it’s hard to leave him off the Olympic team if you’re trying to put the best golfers out there. Dude is playing at a very high level on the biggest stages.
