Central Scouting's take

He has a strong and powerful leg drive, quickness and athleticism. He's just got that presence of being a future quality NHL goaltender.

Goalie is a glaring need for this team so this pick makes sense.  Perhaps his powerful leg drive and quickness will allow him to play D?

Of all of the draft picks, this is the only one I question.

He's 17 years old, so he's probably not going to be NHL-ready for another 4-5 seasons.  Who knows what the goaltender situation will be then.

Most importantly will his nickname be Vader or Vlad?

Just in time for McQuaids contract to expire at which point he can be Darth Vlader.

I just wouldn't draft a goalie in the third round.

Ah, I see. That makes sense then (but I am not sure I agree with that philosophy, though.)

I can only hope Sweeney didn't make the decisions on the draft picks, because if he did, this guy will be flipping burgers at a restaurant somewhere in five years, not playing pro hockey. Or alternatively, playing roller hockey somewhere in Alabama.
