Not sure why they lined up Houck here instead of Pivetta. Though both have a tendency to give up hard contact, and did so at an alarming rate in ST, so I’m not sure it will matter. Limit the walks, try not to put so much pressure on the offense, and win a game in convincing fashion. Never to early in the year to go streaking.

The Red Sox are currently on pace to shatter the MLB record for most runs scored in a season, 1,220 in 1894 by the Boston Beaneaters.

They are also on pace to shatter the MLB record for most runs allowed in a season, so there's that.

Aren’t the O’s on the exact same trajectory?

New member (lurker I guess you call it here.) I had to join after last night and following the threads here. Lowell native that moved to Florida for work. Been a Sox fan since 1997. Let’s take 2 out of three today!

O’s had the game but dropped the ball
and had to face Adam Duvall
who, with our offense piping hot,
walked it off with a monster shot.
A miracle for April Fool’s!
This team certainly has the tools
to make the season super fun -
to go on a post season run –
to be among the all-time greats
If pitching just cooperates.
Let’s hope that Houck gets us on track
and watch the Sox win back-to-back.

He did us a solid.

Yoshida and Duvall are already my two binkies on this team.

Yoshida is going to be a huge fan favorite if he isn't already.

I truly feel badly for Sale, a real stand up guy who's had horrible injury luck, hoping he can figure it out.

Looking at Duvall in Baseball Reference. He's got lots of black this year.

Leading the league (or maybe tied for the lead) in:

Runs: 4
3B: 1
HR: 2
RBI: 6
OPS: 2.156
OPS plus: 479
TB: 14

They still don't trust Casas against a lhp, I guess. I'm not saying "they" are wrong.

Must be the league wide offense.....Seems like that OPS+ ought to be higher.

What are your thoughts on BABIP? And don't listen to @E5 Yaz No one else does.
I like it. I think it’s important in terms of luck for pitchers and hitters, both good and bad. It give you an idea if a player is going to regress or not. I’m kind of a stats nerd so I should fit in well here it seems.

Very well, I expect.

(Somebody needs to photoshop an appropriate "B"ABIP on that cap.)

Let's start small here. Howsabout no runs in the first inning today? Then if that's done, build on it. Maybe allow less than, say, five in the game?
Baby steps. Baby steps.

Houck has great stuff but he cannot go multiple times through a line up. Hopefully, I reverse jinxed him and he is brilliant for 6 innings.
