Early match this week is Arsenal vs United.

Arsenal took the lead early after a horrific defensive mistake as Tavares got the rebound on a Saka shot.

I'm on DVR about fifteen minutes behind the game live, but was surprised to see we don't have a thread yet for this week.

Both teams are all over the shop defensively.

Arsenal need Tomiyasu back and match sharp in the worst way. Playing two defensively challenged fullbacks at the same time is just terrifying.

Fair play to Ronaldo. Getting back so quickly is another impressive reminder of how otherworldly his determination and dedication are.

No sentence promises more comedy for a neutral or enemy fan watching Arsenal than “yellow card for Xhaka”.

No idea why Ronnie didn't take the penalty. I'm sure he could have but maybe he wanted to try and boost Bruno's confidence. Of course the way this season is going he misses.

I'm rooting for United and Tavares and Cedric are given me anxiety.

Hard to think of positives this season but Sancho playing out of his funk and looking like the player we bought is one.

Xhaka with an absolute screamer. I was told there would be many of those when he signed, but man that one was beautiful.

How on earth did Bruno not get sent off?

How on earth do you have Penaldo on the pitch and let someone else take the penalty? HE'S PENALDO!

Eddie Howe turning Joelinton into a reasonable Premier League player just baffles me.

Union has been outplaying RB Leipzig all game. RBL didn’t have even a shot in the first half, and then scored 30 seconds into the 2nd half. There was a penalty shout for that had a stronger argument than the one given on Wednesday night, but wasn’t given. Trailing 1-0, Sven Michel came on for Awoniyi and immediately scored on his first touch in around the 86th. Then Union had another beautiful team goal put in by Kevin Behrens and unselfishly assisted by Michel.

Two absolutely ridiculous games within 72 hours for these two, and keeping Union’s European dreams alive. Take that Rasen Ballsport.

Bruno has been let off the hook in two matches in a row. I don’t understand it.

Ronaldo’s penalty success rate is 83%. Bruno’s is 92%. I think there’s a reasonable argument to be had. What is indefensible is letting CR7 hit a free kick when there’s anybody else on the pitch with more than zero legs wearing your kit.

Saslisu kicks his own GK in the face on the first goal, then scores an OG
Che Adams early in the first half knocks two seagulls into each other

Hammers and Chelsea seem to be playing it easy

Lukaku wins a penalty shot, and it’s red for West Ham for denial of a goal scoring opportunity, but Jorginho’s little stutter step fails him as he weakly boots it straight at the keeper.

I gave up social media for Lent, and while I’ve poked my head in the door from time to time since Easter, I’ve learned that I’m better off spending less time online - not that I don’t like youze, to the contrary I enjoy chewing the fat here to the detriment of my work and family.

so I’ll check in later, beforehand I’ll say this:

blowing that Burnley gsme was a disaster;
recently Everton are improved in quality of play and in the feeling around the club;
but Burnley look fantastic since they canned Dyche and right now we are in the drop zone;
I really do believe we can nick something today;
I am realistic enough to know the likely outcome;
the injuries are no excuse but the single most damaging thing is that Jerry Mina is made of glass.

we are in the drop zone at this moment.

see you later.

I think Trent has started to fancy himself a creative playmaker, but his passing is too inconsistent to try to be as aggressive as someone like Thiago. Too man sloppy giveaways.

but Trent’s fouling on Gordon? Top notch so far.

Incredibly harsh on Gordon. Keita stuck a leg out there asking for trouble.

Poor editing from the broadcast, needed way more footage of Klopp and Lampard during the dust-up.

The trials for the actual playtime clock are going to dictate the game moving forward. Eliminating or reducing the effect of time wasting is going to have a dramatic impact.

There also needs to be an acknowledgment that the current refereeing system is fundamentally flawed and doesn’t work. If they’re going to continue to make a farce of VAR there is a need for more eyes on the pitch with the authority to keep the game both flowing and in check.

Pickford and Richarlison should watch it, a little shithousery goes a long way and they’ve already gone to the well too much. Their visible antics shouldn’t distract from the fact that Everton have shut Pool down.

look especially at Mykolenko vs Salah, who was able to get one ball centered that turned into a halfway decent threat, but otherwise Mykolenko has won every battle.

if anything Everton have been wasteful- a couple of man-advantage situations with bad choices or promising outket balls hit too long.
