I don’t usually like to blame officials- they’re like shitty ice, both teams have to deal with it. I thought they did a poor job to put away the whistles for some egregious calls when the high stick was pretty soft (although sold well) and the trip was unintentional (but a trip none the less). I think it was the fact that Bergy would have been alone with Bobrovky that made them blow it.

Anyone getting mad at Bergeron needs their head checked. The four time Selke winner was reaching for the puck when Jones made a play to cut back that not many defenseman can make and clipped his toe on Bergy’s stick as he was skating off. Unfortunate ending to one of the smartest players in the league trying to make a play in 2OT.

I think Bergeron is hurt, no clue what’s wrong with Pasta. Krejci looked like he could have used the night off and as someone else pointed out, debrusk basically didn’t play. McAvoy made a series of poor decisions w/r/t pinching in the NZ last night too, although overall he’s been great. That first goal was one of the first times this playoffs I’ve thought Rask fucked up, but he was dialed in the rest of the game the way he has been most of the playoffs.

Columbus is good and has home ice, but Panarin and sort of Duchene aside, they don’t have anyone who will hurt you (top D pair is amazing too). All series is going to be like these first two games, if either team cracks the other goalie, it’s going to end quick. Gonna be a ride.

Dubois is pretty solid but I didn’t realize what a shithead he is. Seen a few scummy plays from him, and you know what? Good for him- it’s playoffs and sometimes guys don’t pick their game up- he’s amped up the weasel this series.

Last night may have been the first real sign of fatigue after a tough series and playing every other day for 2 1/2 weeks. Hoping the extra day off before Game 3 will prove to be the tonic.

What an annoying game. The Bruins were awful controlling the puck, but I thought they played really good positional defense overall and limited Columbus' high quality chances, especially in overtime. I said before that Bobrovski was my biggest fear in this series, and that hasn't changed. The Bruins have a history of allowing goalies on a hot streak to remain on that streak against them (see: Holtby), and I think he is the only thing that can prevent the Bruins from eventually winning this series, though that is not to say that Columbus is not a really good team.

Can't be mad at Bergy, and the refs made the right call on the trip, but it also feels like Columbus is getting the same treatment as Tampa last year, being allowed to manhandle Bruins players all they want. Thankfully the Bruins haven't been called for too many ticky tack penalties, either, so all in all I think it has been pretty even.

I always thought this series would go 7.

Yeah because that’s going to do wonders for his confidence. If he’s healthy they have to play him and try to get him out of his own head.
I care less about his confidence than the fact that he’s playing like shit.

Which probably isn’t great for his confidence.

Hasn't his best playing come with Bergeron and Marchand as linemates?
Historically, yes. But I think the offense got going a bit in the TOR series when they moved him with 46/74 as 37/63/88 were being shut down. Seemed to spark something. But at this point, he just seems lost and Bruce is trying to find him a way out of it.

Then you lose one of your key guys for the rest of the playoffs. If he’s playing like this because he’s hurt then sit him. If it’s mental the coaching staff has to figure out a way to get him back in the right frame of mind because they need him.

I’ve grown to hate the “let the boys play” approach. It’s another way of saying “we’re going to allow all the rule violations that don’t cause a player to fall down dramatically, bleed, or shoot the puck over the glass.”

And that’s with the good refs. With the so-so refs, “let the boys play” means “I will allow rule violations until I abruptly don’t.”

Do your job.
