Game 8
I
t’s late and I don’t have much time
to sit and craft the perfect rhyme,
so this one’s like a freestyle rap.
Let’s hope it doesn’t sound like crap.
To me, off-days feel truly “off.”
(Non-baseball fans may laugh or scoff.)
I need my daily Red Sox dose.
No other team even comes close
to capturing my restless soul…
to making my faint heart feel whole.
Since Friday was a Sox-less day,
I'll recap some of Thursday's play.
A solid Sale and steady pen
kept the team in the game and then
clutch dingers from “The Double D’s”
crushed Tigers. (Like David Ortiz.)
It’s Saturday, now. Let’s have fun.
Extend the winning streak past one!

The other night, in Atlanta, the booth was calling the pitch a sweeper, but the display board in the stadium said "slutter" The camera showed it, and the guys said, "I didn't know we could say that on TV."
Ha! He’s owning it. Just said something to the effect of;

“He’s got that little slutter”!!!

A slutter is a slider that acts like a cutter, or vice-versa. The term's been around a long time.

Walking Wong and Refsnyder back to back with the bases loaded is a tough look

I kinda feel bad for Wentz. Tough when you see a pitcher just lose all control. We've been there done that.
