Here's hoping Malcolm Butler throws out the first pitch at Fenway

Guys, I need feedback. Do I keep the kids home from school tomorrow and take them to the parade? They only had 1 1/2 days of school last week and yet another snow day today.

One day of school, versus a memory for a lifetime?

Seriously, do it.  I've only been able to make it to one parade (2013 Sox) and it is worth all the trouble.

In 50 years, which do you think will mean more to them?

FWIW I'm a 5th grade teacher. Please bring your kids to the parade! You have my permission. I know I'll be showing the parade during class. Enjoy the experience!

The sidewalks are buried in six-foot high snowbanks and the MBTA is a complete mess - is having the parade really a good idea?  Walsh is setting himself up for a major P.R. hit if he dispatches city crews to clear the snow off the Boylston Street while the outlying neighborhoods are still struggling to clean up.

Found in central mass
I really hope it's put off at least another day. I live in worcester at the top of a very very steep hill, that is poorly plowed and rarely sanded/salted that leads to a busy fast street. Not going anywhere in the next day or so without the guarantee of getting t-boned at the bottom. Kids will be crushed literally or figuratively no matter what I decide. Fuck!

I know the players will enjoy it, but they also want to get on with their off-season.

Will any of the major networks air the parade for the out of towners?  I want to record this and watch it when I get home from work.

NFL Network will show it live.

I imagine ESPN News will carry at least parts of it.

Anyone going to this? What would be the closest train station to the parade route with minimal walking? (trying to bring my dad)

Park St, Boylston, Arlington are all good... But have you been to these?

A million people, no bathrooms, jammed subway cars... It's a scene, so if he's not a great walker I would be a little concerned.

It would have been easier to plow out the lots at Gillette Stadium and hold a rally there.

I went to WA. I have many fond memories of nearly dying driving down that hill in icy weather.

Is Copley open? Answer: Should be
About to head down. May be stupid.

Because the MBTA fleet of vehicles has been subjected to the snowiest seven day period in Boston history, there may also be some delays associated with our aging equipment. Please remember to dress warmly. Temperatures at the time of the parade are expected to be in the teens and winds could be blustery.
Approximately 1,000 parking spaces have been secured at the Suffolk Downs parking lot. Massport Logan Express buses offer service from satellites to Logan. Passengers can then utilize a free transfer to the Silverline, MassPort Back Bay Shuttle ($5), or the Blue Line. Customers are also encouraged to utilize Hingham Ferry service where there are approximately 450 spaces open on an average day.
Trains will be very crowded - please leave extra time for your trip and purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines. Passengers waiting at stations closer to Boston will encounter trains that have very limited space available. All efforts will be made to safely accommodate all passengers.
Parade attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets beforehand to avoid long lines - ticket checks and boarding queues will be in place throughout the afternoon and evening return trips. A list of retail sales locations is available here.

Additional staff will be available throughout the day to assist in managing lines, fare collection and boarding. Information will be posted at North, South and Back Bay Stations offering additional details. Green and Blue Line customers should note that Government Center Station is closed for construction. City Hall Plaza is a short distance from Haymarket, State, and Park Stations.

We would like to thank our regular riders for your support of the commuter rail and will apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of the increased volume of passengers.

B, C, D, lines all slow due to mechanical weather issues.

The T will be fine, though. Good call.

Stuck in traffic. Hoping we don't miss it. Does anyone know if it started yet?

They just unboarded the buses at the Hynes to go to the duckboats about 10 minutes ago.

Two TV coverages: NESN with Don Orsillo and Elle Duncan, and NFLN, which is currently talking about PSIs. Soooo, it's NESN for me. Don't want to alarm, but NFLN said Gronk may be stuck in Dallas?

Still hasn't started.

If I were you I would park somewhere and take the T. You will not be able to drive or park anywhere close to the parade.

Honestly, your best move with someone who cannot walk is to watch from a bar, but I understand how special this is.

I know Bill would never go for this but, given the snow, and transportation concerns today and the unavailibility of the team after today, I wonder if they ever thought of scrapping this for now and holding it at the start of training camp.
