Sox currently tied for 4th most wins in the AL while still being in 4th place in the division, pretty silly.

Key inning, as it turns out, might have been Houck going back out in the 6th and giving the pen a blow
Thought it was a decent move for Cora to give Houck A chance to finish strong and maybe build some confidence with working into the later innings.

This was a great win.
I don't know if it's a great team, but it's a good team with the potential to be great. And it's a damn fun team to watch.
The things that needed to happen for this team to be competitive (Yoshida, Verdugo playing well, etc.) are happening. If Sale and Bello can go on a run…

Beni just walked off the twins in other news pertaining to the playing of baseball.

I flipped this one on tonight just needing some good old low stakes non-elevated blood pressure early season baseball. And it delivered!

Ecstatic about Yoshida, a real pro, and I’m glad they allowed the time for Wong to develop and cleared the way to give us a shot at a dirt cheap catching situation. He’s a real athlete and just looks like it’s clicking (and he doesn’t need to be nearly this good with the bat to be a good player).

Good vibes, got the big hits and big bombs in situations where it just seemed like we’d be on the other end every time especially in these division matchups.

Funny thing is Raffy has actually been kinda bad, down to 227/282/538. Homers and nothing else.

Just wait until Story, Duvall, Yu and Paxton get back. Nice to know there are reinforcements down the line.

I am cautiously optimistic about a more balanced lineup once Story and Duvall get back. The offense is obviously great as is, but it has the potential to get even better

I hear you. I still had faith in the Bobby Valentine year at the trade deadline. I was hilariously wrong but the feeling was there.
You are so much better than me. At no point in the BV era did I keep the faith.

(Well until the Punto trade)

How much of this is guys like Turner and Refsnyder hitting around him instead of Bogaerts and J.D?
Not much you can do with a .200 BABIP. K rate is fine, hard hit%, launch angle and barrels/PA all in line with the best years of his career. He has just traded line drives for fly balls and I suspect the fact that he's just getting pitched way high up in the zone (and has consistently chased those pitches) has a lot to do with it.

Then Sosh can have endless conversations about who gets sent down to AAA. I nominate Casas. I don't think Tapia can be sent down, so he'll be DFA'd?
That sort of conversation is not for me and not for now, obviously. But I have this morning been emailing friends about just that: Story, Duvall and Chang coming off the DL/IL. I don't have high expectations yet for Paxton.
Gosh, last night was fun. Barksdale did the best strike-calling I've seen all year, btw. It's a shame Wong was assessed a PB. Youks thought he'd been crossed up. Not that Wong is brooding about that this morning.
