The 2004 Sox made their comeback against the Yanks in the ALCS on a Sunday night. Don't let them win Sunday night!

Novel idea: go after Jimmy or Bam or both early and try to get them in foul trouble. Having one or both have to ride the pine for a bit might allow them to build a double-digit lead and maybe hold it.

I didn't want to have to break glass early with the soul-devouring meal. But down 2-0, lost both at home? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Two Cuban sandwiches, sweet fried plantains (maduros), and one tres leches cake slice en route tomorrow. Did this same meal last year for Game 7 against the Heat, and did this ritual against the 76ers for a cheesesteak pizza, not to mention various other opponents over the years. Those are just the ones it sticks out against. This works.

I would not be surprised by a win this game and then a dog fight, with a close and tight finish in Game 4. With respect to the latter, even moreso than the first two.

There is no better cake than a tres leches. George approves and now wants some.

This is a game thread thought and not a main board thought, so here goes: Would we have been better off with Kevin Durant right now instead of Jalen Brown?

I think so. It would have taken some guts, trading 'the next few years of success' for right now and not much longer. However, here we are with the wheels possibly falling off, and the one thing we don't have is a player with gravitas; somebody like....well....Jimmy Butler. I think the difference would have been huge.

Anyway.

Does Durant really have "gravitas?"

Certainly more than Brown (or Tatum, IMHO)
And where has that got him? Out in the playoffs one round earlier the past two years. It was never just Brown for Durant either.. people keep saying that but wasn't it multiple players for Durant? Durant maybe pre-injury.. but WHY BRING THIS UP IN A GAME THREAD!

edit: and wtf is gravitas in basketball and why does it matter at all when it doesn't win? Also.. Durant and 'gravitas'.. LMFAO.

All I give a shit about right now is the Celtics playing at least one game to the best of their abilities.. and then playing at least three more of those. I want Jaylen Brown to show up. Tatum to have one of his best games and for at least a day be able to relax because the Celtics won.

Just shoot lights out all game so the inevitable 15+ turnovers don’t matter.

I’d lobby for fewer turnovers but they are incapable.

This series reminds me a little bit of last year vs the Nets. Close games, but the Cs managed to want it just a little more each time. They gotta find their way back to that.

I'm flying to Israel during the game. I arrive many hours after the game will end. I don't know if I will have wifi on the flight and I intend to sleep anyway.

Please don't make me curse and wish hateful thoughts on the clearly over matched HC when I land. Please.

I’m not ready for this run to be over. Hopefully the team feels the same way.

One game at a time. Take this one and the complexion of this series changes substantially. Maim Miami.

My one suggestion would be more TL less Al in crunch time given the current reality. Gravitas my ass this is a must win: LFG!

You would think a game in the 110s would favor the team with a lot more talent. Has not worked out the first two games. Maybe the answer is to win an ugly 98-93 type game?

This game being at 830 on a Sunday with nobody else on the schedule is stupid as fuck. Win tonight.

They got house money now. Most NBA fans have them as DOA tonight.

There will be no uneasy home crowd noises when they make a mistake or two. Send those mojito drinking, get to their seats with 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter assholes right back outside with 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter because they're down 23.

God Dammit, let's fucking go.

There's a great book called The Anatomy of Courage about battlefield stress (which is a fascinating but tough subject) and its central idea is that courage is like currency; fighters on a battlefield have a certain amount in the bank, and when it runs out they are spent. Different people have different amounts in the bank - brave ones have more, people not suited to fighting have less, but when your bank account is exhausted, the result is the same. You will make mistakes, you will cause others to lose their lives, you yourself will be killed.

I thought last year the Celtics spent a lot of the playoffs using up a lot of their courage, maybe more than they needed to, and that they ran out against the Warriors. You could just see it; it wasn't even something you could get angry about. They were done.

I think the Celtics have used up an awful lot in this playoff run, more than they needed to. But the question is how much does they have left? Do they have more than last year?

where the darn libs live
I am exhausted. I had a 12 hour work day yesterday followed by working at night and didn't get to bed until 445am. Then I got up at 9 to go to a baptism.

I'd like this to be a 35 point game at the half.
