Dragged Mrs. 'waal to Petco yesterday. It wasn't a difficult request. She loves baseball and Petco is a really nice ballpark. We got there early and walked along the waterfront and the game, even though it sucked was over in under 2:45, which got us to a lovely dinner in Encinitas in time for our reservation and home before dark.

But here's the problem: A friend from Boston from my college days moved out here 30 years ago and is still a Boston fan, so he bought 4 tix for tonight's Angel game for him and his wife and the two of us. Sure! The wives like each other and it's late spring in Orange County so the weather should be great! Except it's been chilly (mid 60s) and gray and windy and misty for the past few days and again tonight. And his wife has a work thing so she isn't coming. And my wife is, well, not pleased about going with me and my buddy and a stranger.

And then tomorrow? Well, tomorrow our development does outings and a friend is in charge and yep, this month's outing is to Anaheim, so we're on a bus on Tuesday with 40 of our neighbors to see the Sox. Three games in a row. And the forecast is bleak and the starting pitching is bleak (Tanner Houck tonight can't be as bad as Kluber was, right?) and let's not talk about the basketball thing, and I'm up at midnight, not sleeping for the second night in a row. And did I mention we're going to the game again Tuesday (at least it's Bello!) while the Celtics will be playing a game, that I understand, is kind of key?

So: WIN IT FOR ME, tonight. Help me get some rest. Help me convince Mrs. 'waal that it's worth going to multiple baseball games in a row by not always seeing losses (our record on our road trip games is NOT a good one). Help the psyche of Boston Sports. Keep pennant hopes alive. Don't make me take her to a Revolution game against the Galaxy. They're still playing well, right?

The Celtics game on Tuesday is far from key. Game 7. THAT will be key. You have a built in excuse not to watch that and enjoy some baseball.

Every time the weather in Southern California is the same as the weather in Boston we have to hear all you Losangelinos whine as if the apocalypse is nigh and you don't know if you will survive. Put on a jacket, if you packed one.

I was waiting for my plane back to ATX from Logan last night (got in at 2am local time... .2 hour delay! and I'm on 3.5 hours of sleep). I was hoping to catch some of the Sox game at some shitty airport bar and was shocked that I couldn't find it! Golf! That's what was preferred to be on the telly over the Sox game..... WTF?

Encinitas seems to be a Mexican food capital of San Diego county. My fam and I have eaten at Las Olas and El Especial Norte, both on Pacific Highway (easy to get to) Encinitas. Both excellente.

The odds are in your favor. Tonight you impress Mrs. 'waal with a victory and maybe some mouse ears!

Best crab cakes in any non-“MA” state.
I got a place or two in Delaware that are better.
Where will y'all be sitting so we can look for you on TV. You should hold up a Hi SoSH! sign.
"20 rows up on the Sox side" us all I know. Mucho dinero.

This was on Coast Highway, too. Really good, excellent service

Game 48
I have zero doubts t’was a bad Sunday.
Two Boston blowouts. (Not in the fun way.)
Red Sox were pelted. A shoutout defeat.
Celtics just melted in Miami heat.
Sox were down quickly. Can’t count on Corey.
Celtics looked sickly. Same old sad story.
Tonight, the Sox play Otani and Trout.
The Celts take the day to figure things out.
One team looks steady, great hustle and heart.
One team looks ready for summer to start.
Looks are deceiving sometimes, so I’ll cheer,
always believing, this could be our year.

I’ve had great ones of course in Delaware…. But best I’ve ever had are at Garbo’s in Austin (yes I did the build-out of their 2 places). Great lobster rolls (best outside NE) for reasonable price.
What?! Garbo's has a brick and mortar site?

Fake edit: Ah, the place off Mopac and Parmer that used to be other seafood places. Where's the second one SLT?

Toronto lost again, so we can distance ourselves by another full game from them with a win. Of course, the goal is still first place with the Rays and all looking up at us. What?

I don't know if anyone else hates this Cambridge Pavers add as much as I do but it seems counterproductive to put such an annoying add on NESN to run 20 times per game. Even if I needed pavers I'd go with someone else.

If the 2023 NBA and NHL playoffs have taught us anything, it's just make the playoffs.
