I was thinking about what I should write here, and nothing but tired cliches came to mind. I’ll say some of them anyways.

No more fucking around. Take care of the ball, and do not come out flat. Tatum has to make up for his game 3 performance, and I expect that he will. But then he needs to do it again game 5, and then 6. Jaylen needs to keep things simple, and if Rob is out, Grant needs to start over Theis.

Maul Miami.

If TL is out and they have no good match up for Bam, then they shouldn't try to stop him. He's not going to drop 50 points by himself, at least unless they hack him every time he touches the ball. Let him do his thing and shut down everybody else. Hit shots. Profit.

(I feel like that's a strategy they've employed well in the past when there was an obvious mismatch.)

A little perspective folks.

If someone had told me when the Celtics were 18-21 that (i) they would sweep the Nets with Tatum outplaying Durant and Kyrie thoroughly humiliated; (ii) they’d beat Milwaukee in 7 with Al offering an iconic dunk on Giannis’s head, a Tatum-Giannis duel in a back against the wall win in Game 6, and Grant raining threes in Game 7; and (iii) they would have a home game tomorrow night to even up the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat, do you know what I would have said?

“HOW THE FUCK COULD THEY BE DOWN 2-1 TO THE FUCKING HEAT?”

Play with anger but composure. Play with joy and courage. Play like the champions you can be. Love and trust. Fucking win.

This has got to be an "all hands on deck" game. Can't go down 3-1 here.

I'm still in shock from G3. No clue what happens tonight, but just hoping for a better effort.
As I wrote in the series thread over in the Port Cellar, after game 3 was the first time all postseason that doubts started to creep in for me. So I'm with you, I have no idea what to expect.

Isn't it always all hands (at least all reasonably healthy hands) on deck for all playoff games? OK, the Warriors could rest any dinged up players for their game 4.
It's pretty clear that wasn't the case in Game 1.

Helps their defense but bad news for a team that's having issues scoring in the half court. Not sure Miami can create enough offense to beat us if we limit the turnovers. Clearly that's easier said than done, though.
It also makes Butler's health/ability to be his regular self more important---Miami only scored 70 points in quarters 2-3-4 and that includes a few FT/garbage time late. So Herro being out aggravates their offensive challenges....and as others noted, makes containing turnovers an even bigger opp for Celts

Does anyone remember the play that the Heat and Spo are pissed off about involving Butler and PP? I’m trying to think of any potentially dirty play that happeend between them and I can’t come up with anything

Yeah, the PP play is bad. Doesn’t look like he was trying to hurt him, just sort of a take foul from the ground, but if it winds up in an injury, you’re gonna be really pissed about that.

Here
He tripped over Pritchard’s foot with his left foot, he wasn’t dragged down by his right knee. He’s trying to get the intentional foul and stop the play by grabbing him, but his leg is stuck in an awkward spot between Jimmy’s after Pritchard fell. If he doesn’t put his arm on his leg, Jimmy still trips.

Also, Morant got injured on another play it would seem. That knee pull got overplayed.

In the moment in real speed, I thought Butler felt the hand on his thigh and just went to the ground to draw the whistle. You're right, he may have tripped on Pritchard's foot.

He 100% did.

I also don’t think he would have injured his knee on the fall, he landed well on his side. However, he might have hurt it when his knee buckled as Pritchard fell into him right before the dribble.

I don't care about how any Miami Heat player gets injured and that policy will stand for as long as I can remember Dwyane Wade.

Rotten Apple
Woj on the EPSN NBA Today show: Butler will warmup with the intent to play and expect Herro to be back in game 5. Optimism for TL tonight but Smart is more on the iffy side.

God I couldn’t fucking stand Wade. He seems like a legitimately good dude off the court but on the court he was a dirty asshole.

Jimmy’s also a fairly dirty player…so I’m not exactly shedding tears for what happened to him. However, still would prefer he didn’t get injured on the court where it makes a Celtic player look suspect.
(If he tripped on the stairs or something and sprained his ankle so he missed the rest of the series, I definitely wouldn’t mind)

Butler has had knee issues all season long, that play was a nothingburger

that would be like blaming TL's absence with some random contact/foul on Miami

There is no way anyone who cares about ratings/history et al. in the NBA office would rather have Miami than us. NFW.

Make it so.
