And TL got hurt and only played 14 minutes, and Brogdon got hurt and only played a few useless minutes.

They basically lost their best player, and all of their depth in one fell swoop. A better effort would have been nice, but this was an uphill battle the minute Tatum rolled that ankle.
Thank you. And let’s be honest, they’d have literally no chance against Denver without Tatum or with this Tatum and with a hobbled Rob. Just really fucking unfortunate that happened. Tatum has been an iron man all playoffs and just bad luck the first play of the game.

If you had told me the Heat would score 103 points tonight, I'd have been 75% certain Boston would have won the game. Instead, they weren't even close.

What a terrible, awful performance by the Celtics.

I think KFP is over the top but I was questioning Tatum earlier too. His variance is so large game to game that it’s hard to know if he’s ever going to be the guy who leads them to a championship. I’d really like to see them try to get him a coach who really understands his strengths and weaknesses and doesn’t have him initiating from the top so much. I think all his coaches in Boston have put him in a tough spot for what he’s actually good at

I don't care who wins the title, as long as Lowry gets released by the Heat in the 4th quarter of their clinching game and then he gets into a non life threatening car accident leaving the game.

Butler has been terrible most of the series and he's 12/28 today. They're winning because of Caleb Martin and the Celtics, particularly Brown, not being able to shoot all game. Oh and Tatum's ankle.
Jesus fucking Christ, dude. Butler’s got twice as many points today. Tatum couldn’t hit a cow in the ass with a shovel. Sucks that he hurt his ankle.

What is it that compels grown ass men to these heights of public delusion? There is no universe in which Tatum outplayed Butler today.

This is a sane take. Saying Tatum is faking the injury which occurred on the first play and noticeably affected him all game is insane troll behavior.

Butler isn't being hailed as a top five player. For all of the "great game 7s!!" Tatum has had, should I list the playoff duds that top players DONT have?

No. I don't need to. Because we all know they exist.
What is your position on Joel Embiid after these playoffs? How about Durant? Giannis? Are they not top 5 guys either because they came up short?

The Celtics had no legs tonight. They were fatigued. Hard to beat a really good team 4 in a row.
This. If people want to be ticked off , be ticked off at the team that played games 1-3. They left themselves no margin for error or injury. And both happened tonight.

Of course it's hard to beat a team 4 times in a row. But they didn't need to do that tonight. They needed to win ONE game. At HOME. If the shoe was on the other foot, why wasn't Miami exhausted with no legs? They were absolutely trying to eliminate Boston in games 4, 5, and 6, and lost in crushing fashion. How did THEY have all kinds of spring in their step tonight? It wasn't a fatigue thing. It was a "they were good and we sucked, plus Tatum got hurt on the first play of the game" thing.

Boston is gonna be 5-6 at home in these playoffs.
Bruins were 1-3 at home.

Nice job going 6-9 at home by the Boston squads.

Protect the civic indeed.
Every new shitty arena filled with fans 100 miles from the action is exactly the same. There's no home court advantage these days.

He scored an NBA record 51 points to win a game 7 two weeks ago.

I get we have casual fans who show up for big games, but there’s a couple folks failing the Kitchkinet standard in this thread.

Love the TL. But running him back out there with Horford at center next year, and we will be singing the same sad song when he gets hurt. It's not a question of if, just when.
He had a relatively healthy year, but certainly was not peak TL throughout the playoffs. And AL is going to require a very high level of load management.

Just like after the Bruins loss, I’d bet we are going to find out a lot of injuries on this team.
Tatum had the ankle, JB had hand/elbow/wrist, I would bet Smart has some leg stuff

Oof.

Tatum has one of his worst games in the playoffs, and pointing it out makes people cranky in a gamethread.

It's ok guys. He'll lead us to a top 4 spot in the east again next year. No promises on following through as a top 5 player, though...

Sweet.

So, Brown sucked. Other than him...who was more at fault for this blowout than Tatum? The mid-30s center? The 3rd/4th banana that is Marcus Smart? Derrick White hitting 3s and driving the lane to keep us in it?

Oh. No. Nobody. Nobodies at fault. This embarrassment should be owned by nobody.
Somehow as bad as they played you are more embarrassing.
