You think the extra games were the reason for the series loss, Eddie? How did they destroy Tampa in Game 1 then? What changed after that?

Shoulda been an easy goal on the pp with how bad Tampa is on pk. They blew it. But great season no one expected this. Get better on D, get rid of krecji & get a second line with some scoring (they need their own Tyler Johnson) & they can win the cup next year.
I hate to say it, but I think big Z is getting old before our eyes, and I worry about what he'll look like about halfway through next season. He looked like a guy out of gas in these playoffs.

The worst part of this is that the officiating was so lopsided I have no idea what they really need to improve, and what was a product of the situation with the refs.

Refs were awful but Tampa was the better team

I’m in the minority but I’d love to see them trade Marchand. He was invisible in the play offs and it sure seems like the officiating tilts against him and his team.

He got hurt
They all did, really. Chara and McAvoy hurt late, and Chara at this point really can’t be dealing with nagging shit. Carlo lost. Grz banged up at one point. McQuaid always dealing with something. Same story with the forwards. Both Nashes hurt late, Bergeron not 100%. DeBrusk the only guy who looked to be back at full strength

I'm going to be positive here for a minute, just not about this series.

My daughter's school has their own bracket challenge, and her class drew the Jets. Particularly this round, she's taking an interest in the games now, hoping the Jets will win to give her class a nice party towards the end of the year. She's been watching the games when she can (can't lately, as the last few games have been starting at 10:30 local time), and wants to know how the games go. So for the rest of the way, I'll pull for the Jets with her, and hope she can enjoy the feeling, even if she isn't sure she's a Winnipeg fan just yet.

No Krug killed them on the last PP especially- didn’t help the 5-on-3 either.

Lots of reasons to be optimistic about the franchise, but the rate and magnitude of the impact officiating had on this series leaves an awful taste in my mouth.

Two best teams in the East only go 5 games because the refs gift-wrapped at least two games for the #1 seed. NHL is a disaster.

The window should be wide open for the Bs the next few years. Assuming the league doesn’t keep closing it on them.

MAke Charlie the main D guy. Move Chara to 2nd or 3rd D line. Save his time. His speed is toast

But Charlie matures more, Carlo matures more, Gryz matures. Krug fixes his ankle. Good top 4 there.

The shit from the refs made me forget how fucking bonkers it was for these teams to even be playing each other in this series in the first place.

Contract the Panthers, Stars, and Coyotes. Get rid of divisions. Play each opponent 3 times. Seed 1-16.

Good luck on that. The NHL has fought tooth and nail to keep Arizona in place, and they're about to expand to Seattle. I'd just settle for the division winners getting the top seeds in the conference and 3-8 going by points.

I'm there too. Its not that the refs gave the series to Tampa, but the standards by which calls were made against both teams were clearly different, and that made it objectively harder for the B's to win the hockey games.

I'm optimistic about this team going forward though. They have a good set of young players, and a core that can dominate.

Tampa is a very deep and talented team, this could have been a good series if the Refs didn't impose their will.

I don't know shit about how the salary cap works in hockey, but wouldn't that tie up a ton of money on a 2nd or 3rd string defenseman? My guess is it probably doesn't matter because they have to pay him anyway, but it has to hurt the roster construction elsewhere.

You're out of your mind. He's a really good player on a great contract. It's the front office's job to smooth things out at the league level. You don't trade good players because the refs don't like them.

It's going the other way. At $650 million per team that the owners don't have to share with the players they'll probably get to 36 before we know it.

First time I’ve ever heard Bergeron complain about officiating. “I was trying to make a move until I got hooked on it,” he says calmly.

Thanks for a great season, guys. I don't have a lot of Bruins fans around out here, so being able to hang out here with you guys is a pretty good replacement for moving back to the northeast.

Wush it had ended better, but I already can't wait for next year.

He is getting paid. But they have the bodies and young skilled bodies at that coming up. Just shuffle what they have around and then bubble wrap Carlo for the month before the playoffs. Plus maybe Zboril or Lauzon step up next year and join the top 6

Tampa was healthier and faster, but I am having a hard time with this series ending in 5. I can't get past how lopsided and poor the officiating in games 2, 4, and 5 were. If the B's get beat because of themselves or the skill of the other team, fine. But handing a Tampa team that is so skilled multiple opportunities which they predictably cashed in on is maddening.

Fuck the officiating. It was a disgrace to the game. The tossing of Bruins centers and particularly Bergeron out of every face-off throughout the first 4 games of the series was incredibly destructive to the B's chance to win the series. Possession is incredibly important and the refs made the Bruins play with hand behind their back the entire series. Its an incredibly important piece of the game they decided to sway hard for 4 straight games. That is before discussing the actual penalties called. I'll never get over the non-call to McAvoy that led to Stamkos tying goal in game 4. Thats just completely disregarding the threshold established all game. That being said the better team won. Tampa was more physical was better with puck possession, stayed healthier and were better in cashing in their chances. On the bright side the Bruins have a ton of young talent so the future is bright. I'm totally excited about this team in future years. Fuck Rick Nash and go Vegas.
