Now, what kind of crazy b@$tard would have the temerity to forecast a coveted Philly Sweep for Boston this weekend? This courageous sumbitch, that's who:

We're five wins in three days away from helping Philly become the single most actively peeved sports city in the known universe. They secretly like it that way. Everybody wins.
The 2023 Red Sox are taking zero prisoners. Their policy this season is scorched-ass earth. Today, Tanner Houck toes the slab for Boston, coming off his gutsy 6-inning 5K effort in a win against Toronto. The doomed Taijuan Walker plays the role of sacrificial lamb for Philly. Satisfaction is virtually guaranteed.

Dalbec? I hoped we’d seen the last of him and I wish they’d give Hamilton a shot. Maybe they get a hot streak out of Bobby D, though—that’s the way this season has been playing out.

Daulbec will have a key hit on this road trip the way it’s been going.

Old Mister Cora had troubles of his own
He had a yellow cat that wouldn't leave its home;
He tried and he tried to give the cat away,
He gave it to a man goin' far, far away.
But the cat came back the very next day,
The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away

Game 36
It was fun watching Saturday’s action
without Friday night’s Celtic distraction.
The world got to watch the Boston Red Sox
win on a national broadcast on Fox.
I hope October brings the same results
(though I would prefer a lot less John Smoltz.)
Cora’s odd lineup performed rather well.
We got three hits from our star, Rafael.
Our red-hot rag-tag role-players like Rob,
Raimel, Reese, and Christian all did their job.
We watched Falter falter (How apropo.)
and the Sox reeled of their 8th in a row.
Today, I will sit with my second screen
to co-watch the quest for banner 18.
Hope game 1 wraps up as game 2 begins.
Mostly, however, I hope for 2 wins.

I believe they think Hamilton has a lot of potential, and they don't want him on the shuttle. They will call him up when they think he is ready to stick.

Scouting reports say Hamilton's ceiling is utility guy, which seems like the type of player who yo-yos up and down from the minors as needed. That said, I think you are correct in that they don't yet want him on that shuttle. He made some swing changes and I think they want him playing every day to lock them in (so far they seem to be working). Dalbec is what he is. Considering the off-days tomorrow and Thursday, his exposure should be limited to emergency use in the middle infield and hopefully Arroyo is back as soon as he's eligible. If something happens where they need starts from someone (Kike or Valdez get hurt), Hamilton can get the call then.

I don't remember hearing anything about this during the broadcast last night but apparently Kutter Crawford and Matt Strahm were ejected before the game began for an old-fashioned National Anthem stand-off. They were ejected for delaying the start of the game. Crawford being on the IL meant the Sox weren't short-handed but Strahm was at the point where he was fully rested after his last start and should have been available in the Phillies bullpen. This could be some next level strategy and my question is, who's the target for this afternoon's anthem? And is Arroyo the sacrifice for today's showdown?

What the hell is a national anthem standoff?
Edit: nm, looked it up. How dumb do you have to be to get yourself ejected for that?

If another sacrifice is needed one will be chosen.

Obviously we know what the public reports say, I just watch the way the Sox are treating him and it really feels like they think he has a higher ceiling than what we see.

"Boys will be boys" is the explanation in an account of another instance of this. But these guys should be men by now. Managers should talk to their teams and put an end to this nonsense. In a way, it's disrepectful of the anthem, isn't it?

"disrespectful of the anthem" is gonna get a giant Lmao from me, but getting yourself ejected from a game where you could have helped your team is some prime foolishness.

Yeah, it really has nothing to do with the anthem other than that's why they were out on the field in the first place. The actual stand-off occurred after the anthem was over. When the rest of their teammates went back to the dugout or out to their positions, they remained where they were. That was the problem that got them ejected.

This is so frickin dumb. But they should have ejected Manoah on Wednesday too if they are ejecting players for delaying the start of a game.

I would have been in favor of that, but it was actually much more satisfying to see the Sox absolutely shell his dumb ass. Scorched earth this year. No prisoners.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
I am looking forward to this one. Perhaps today will be the day Tanner goes long and deep.

(And I'm feeling lucky - I went to a derby party last night and randomly picked my lucky number (8) for the $10 a head pot.)

Sale paid Crawford's fine for the stupid stare-down. "He got a guy out of the game," so it's all good. They are so immature. (What does that make me, who cares so much about their games?)

Youk trying to justify Tapia being #3, "because he's putting together good at bats."
I think it's as simple as not wanting to mess with other guys and their spot in the order. He's essentially in for Turner, who normally bats third, and it leaves everyone else in their normal spot. It's a 1 day thing.
