Feels like a Patriots Super Bowl in the Brady/BB era. The Celtics don't just have a chance to win a title, they have a chance to go down as a historically dominant team.

LIII.

Also, did you know this is the 2nd longest drought (to 86-01) since like 1960 for Boston?????
I was just thinking about this, 76-81 was the only other time outside of those two that was a 5 year stretch without a title. Crazy.

And it has been 4,513 days since the last sports title for a NY team (almost 12.5 years), the longest effective drought in NY sports history. And this despite having fucking NINE Big Four teams in the greater NYC area.

Thinking about how the refs will treat Luka, it occurs to me that Tatum has been WAY better in his whining and moaning to the refs this playoff stretch. Seems like he's finally internalized it's not helping his cause.
I do worry a bit that all of the attention on Luka and the fouls will lead to some favorable calls for him. Of course it could just as easily go in the other direction, especially with an ego like Foster out there. Seems like the officials collectively reached a tipping point anyway.

From one of the Celtics books I read, forget the game but a big one, after warm-ups, Auerbach had the team around him, looked at Russell and said “did you throw up today?” Russell said no. Red said “go throw up.” He did. They won.
I forget the game, too, but Red tells that story in " Let Me Tell You a Story" by Red Auerbach with John Feinstein.

That’s the book! It’s still in the bookcase right here in the family room. Took about 30 seconds to find it. I looked in Amazon and there are like a dozen books about Red and or the dynasty and the Feinstein is the one I have.

This has been such an amazing ride. It became clear pretty early that this team was special, so I really tried to soak it in and enjoy every night I got to watch these guys play basketball. I am a little bit sad it's going to be over soon.

But more than that I am so excited, so happy for this group (AL!), so thrilled to see their evolution and hard work and trust in each other. I have a graduation ceremony to attend today, so of course I'm going to miss the end of this - but I still want a sweep! Leave no doubt and no whimper.

FINISH THE JOB!

Or the 2018 Red Sox--just dominant. The Sox ran through the best 3 teams in the MLB, but the Celtics are dominating.

2013 World Series game six, however caveats of getting to Wacha early and Lackey having it early. OK. probably shouldn’t allow the caveats but it did feel damn good coming home up 3 games to 2.

For those trying to sync radio/TV....at least for Game 3, the SXM feed of 98.5 (on an Alexa device; did not try the SXM app on my phone) was about 20 seconds behind TV, so pretty easy to pause TV until radio caught up. The 98.5 website, though, was ahead of the TV (at least on my phone), and that's much more cumbersome to pause. Did not try with OTA radio, or the 98.5 app.

My daughter turned 5 this week. She’s never seen a Boston sports championship, which, if I can be honest, is some bullshit. She knows the Celtics might win the “big trophy” soon, and she likes this team, even though she’s a bit infatuated knowing there’s a team called the Nuggets.

I’d love to show her the video of my team lifting up the big trophy tomorrow. Go do that.

Harvard men’s squash has won four but nobody cares.

I have slept about two hours each night since Wednesday and I plan to stay up all night reading these threads.

I don’t ask for much, but a forty point lead at some point would relax me.

Win!

I’d really like for this to be a laugher for the entire second half. A hot first quarter and Kyzuzu and Basketball Peter Griffin will fold like a cheap tent. Make it so.

God I hate these west coast swings. What time is tonight’s game and then San Antonio on Sunday?

What makes this so great is that the two best players on the team are home grown. We've seen them develop from skinny kids with talent to fierce NBA bodies with a keen understanding of the game. We've seen them struggle, lose on the biggest stage and grow from the experience. We've seen Jaylen Brown sign a super max when he hadn't earned it, and then come back and earn it. We've seen Jayson Tatum round out as a great team player. It has been a joy. And then to see the front office surround them with the supporting cast that they deserve, guys who in their own right are terrific players and, from all appearances, character guys, has been a joy.

There is no doubt that they will win this championship. The only question is whether it will happen tonight. We know it will, and we'll all be there for it.

Would love to see a 3 point barrage early. Don’t even give these guys hope. My fear, if you can call it fear, is Tatum or Jaylen picking up 2 cheap fouls early that changes the whole complexion of the game.

Porzingis on the court warming up so it feels like it’s not an auto-OUT situation. Think he was already ruled out in G3 by this time.
