NHL is going to lose me. I’m 56. I had spoked Bs on the center of my hubcaps for 16 years, I miss very few Bruins games, I still play twice a week. I’ve got better things to do than watch this double standard play out year after year after year. Close to done.
I mean, if that’s the standard the Bruins should d been on the PP for about 10 minute that period.
And the next one and the next one. Big Bad Bruins are in town to gently poke your wrists. Lock them up.

This is infuriating. Bruins are the much better team and I don’t think it’s particularly close.

This can't be emphasized enough. Totally with you. Why watch this game with this level of incompetence/bias/cheating. It's a great game and they have ruined it.
That series was a fucking embarrassment to the league. Every time I think the NHL is done with goon hockey, something like that series happens that ruins a beautiful sport. Cue the Islanders, 2021.

It's pretty simple: this league is always reactionary. DoPS didn't get created until the NFL started to get in trouble for concussions and I imagine the league's lawyers forced them to do it over liability concerns. And the refs have always responded to coaches' histrionics (see: Berube, Cooper). Cassidy's failing is that he doesn't make a big enough stink soon enough.
They “let them play” but then randomly decide when the little love taps are penalties. It’s infuriating. Watch all the shit that goes on in the net front battles. Never a call. Just two tough guys battling for ice, never mind the cross checks and holding and interference. But god forbid you make a stick he n on a dude.
Exactly. Just call the rulebook, because refs are literally too fucking stupid to think about two different, mutually exclusive things. And the “control the game”/“let them play”/“even things up” regimes end up fighting in their heads like syphilitic hamsters.
I agree with you and cshea. “Let then play” invariably ends up being too physical and they feel they have to call something, so they call the next thing that looks like it might possibly maybe kinda sorta like a penalty to try to “regain control”. And then they go back to being loose and the cycle repeats itself.
