God I hate the stupid “perfection line” nickname that no one uses other than announcers and pundits.
This series they should be called “The Only Line.”

Over a rookie who hasn’t played in a month and has played all of 10 games.
I mean, this was at least a question earlier today. I can respect the differing opinion earlier.

At this point, you’re watching the Hindenburg and arguing that it was the right choice because people hadn’t used helium very often.

I honestly don’t understand what it is about Rask that does this to people. He shouldn’t have even dressed.

Bruins #46 has been directly involved with 3 Islander goals. Rask playing injured has not worked out well he is having a hard time moving his legs. Should never have been given the start.

Need a 4th liner who will beat the piss out of people. They aren’t skilled enough to make up for the fact that they don’t have any bruisers on the line. Doesn’t help that Ritchie and Coyle are big bodies who don’t do shit either. Ritchie is just a penalty machine because he’s slow and pulls up in big hits anyway (or can’t catch anyone to hit them hard).

As Hall goes, so does this team. With him, they've got the best top 6 in the league and are a possession powerhouse. If he's having an off night as he is tonight, they're back to the pre-deadline Bruins where only one line can score, the defense can't move the puck for shit, and they need a lot of power plays to beat their opponents.
This used to be said of Krejci, too. The guy that led the Bruins in points in 2011 and 2013. At some point, the question has to be: are the middle two lines good enough. And for a long time, the answer's been no.

All the goalie talk is going to be welcomed by the 3 of 4 offensive lines that have done next to nothing, and the D thats played like garbage for the last few games.

Between here and everywhere.
Over the past six drafts, the first player drafted by the Bruins has been a defenseman. Unfortunately, except McAvoy, they all suck.
Eh, that’s not true. Defensemen take longer to develop. Zboril and Vaak both look like they’re going to be solid 3/4 Dmen. Andersson was traded. It’s too early to know about Lohrei.

This game is like a broken record we’ve seen before in the last 10 years.

He’s been injured since May. He’s played fine through it. I’d make the same call. .

They are playing like ass in front of him.
He was much less than fine in game 5 and has been brutal tonight. He’s hurt. It’s inexcusable to leave him out there.

He’s been given extra rest all season because when he plays more than twice in a row it acts up and he falls apart. I love Tuukka but he’s toast.

So here we are now, stuck in the middle. Not nearly good enough to complete, not bad enough to get high end talent through the draft. No idea where to go from here.
Don’t be precious about Rask/Krejci. Beyond that, shrug. Get heavier on the bottom 6.

The Bruins absolutely dominated 5 on 5 play last game and scored four goals, and their goalie couldn’t practice that morning or move during the game, and he could barely practice today yet got the start.

Seriously, what do you want? He’s basically crippled out there.

Not good enough to compete? For real? They had a 2-1 lead in the series. They lose Carlo and then McAvoy goes down from a cheap shot. NY has played well but has had a ton of help with puck luck and the refs. Tuukka has been playing hurt.

A few bounces here and there and the Bruins would be blowing NY's doors off. That's hockey. This team is really good when they're healthy and the other stuff evens out.

I want Tuukka back next year and I think it’s silly to turn the reigns over to Swayman just yet.

But he can barely move. He can’t skate.

I think we're seeing the Bruins window slammed shut tonight; that 2015 first round whiff has killed them. Time for a new GM with a different outlook on team building. There are good pieces but not enough.

The only silver lining is I will save 4000 dollars if this score holds up which was the next two round tickets.

They’re nowhere near as good as Tampa or Colorado, so yeah I’d say they aren’t good enough to compete for a Cup.

Maybe as a 1b at a decent number. But he can’t play every other night in the playoffs so ...

It’s pretty inexcusable to start Rask today. Swayman may not have fared much better, but we’ll never know. But the play in front of him has been equally as brutal.

I’m sure someone has stats as a few of you are really adept at hockey stats but my eyes tell me Hall has been flying around still and being maybe semi dangerous but the Islanders are very good with layers and Hall hasn’t had a lot of skaters with him. Hockey is far and away my least understood sport but I haven’t felt like he’s been all that poor

Donnie’s legacy rightly or wrongly is those three picks in a row. He whiffed on two and DeBrusk is looking like a flameout. I think he’s a good GM but that kind of mistake leaves long term damage.

I’m saying that this series is not on the goalie alone. We whiffed on several opportunities to build first period leads, and have had a slew of defensive breakdowns that led directly to goals.

Time to see if this group has any life left in them.

A 4-1 deficit in the 3rd? Impossible to come back from. Never been done. Just insurmountable.

If they somehow managed to get out of this series, do you like them against Tampa? They’ve been the same thing for 4 years, the 4th-7th best team in the league that loses once they play Tampa. The one year it cleared out for them they blew it. This year they’re not even getting to Tampa. They gotta make some serious changes and stop spinning their wheels.

A missed draft pick almost six years ago killed them?

I get the frustration but with a healthy Carlo and Rask this series is not close.

Totally agree. That should have set them up with the next generation of core players. And they got a young promising dud.

Egads, the horror and drama in this thread. The Bruins are banged up in Goal and on D. The Islanders are a really solid team playing really well.

If they lose this series, it is much more because of their defense is not there yet, than Rask or the GM. Geez.

I would let Rask walk and see what Swayman and a veteran can do — re-sign Krejci and Hall to give them a full year, and spend the Rask money on some defense and depth.
