Anthony Volpe has 2 HRs and a double in 8 innings so far in today’s AA doubleheader.

Maybe let's just keep him and let Soto go (don't kill me).
I was going to make a post like this later, sometimes prospects should be hugged. The Cubs trading full control of both Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease for a mediocre Jose Quintana is a huge blow to a franchise.

NY hasn’t had a hit with RISP since Sunday, 0-18 in the last three games.

Anyone read Lindsey Adler's story about Gallo on The Athletic? I don't recall ever seeing a player talk about his current team in the past tense like that. It's hard not to feel for the guy a bit. He knows how bad he's been.

It's a pretty unique situation, there literally isn't a roster spot for him once Stanton is back, the deadline is a few days away and he will be a FA after the season. No matter how much you try to ignore those kinds of things as a player, you can't really ignore that.

All of those runs should be unearned, that ball was right at IKF and Rizzo should have made the play on the grounder too. FUCK.

Besides the runs, IKF's two misplays tonight probably took at least an inning off Cole's outing, more likely two.

Instant upgrades NY can call up:

Peraza over Marwin (bench IKF)
Florial or Andujar over Gallo
Sears over German
possibly Rortvedt over Higgy

Kay just said that there is a report out there that Castillo is on his way to Seattle.

Feinsand's reporting, I think.

My two immediate thoughts here are: NY did not deserve him as they would have made him cut his hair, and that this makes it way more likely that my man Peraza will survive. Montas/Murphy is still possible, though.

JA - It looks like the offer from Seattle was a strong one. Any idea what the rough equivalent would have been from NY?

I am behind and have not really gotten to this, but Marte as a lead prospect is probably in between Volpe and Peraza for NY, and I get the sense Cashman was hesitant about even Peraza in this deal. The rest of it I didn't look at yet.

Also NY plays their entire six game season series with SEA in the next few weeks, plus they could easily meet in the ALDS.

Real bullshit that those five runs to Cole were 'earned', both the IKF and Rizzo plays should have been made, either one gets Cole out of the innings with no runs and KC's four game scoreless streak intact (ended at 31 innings). About as legit as Mancini's HR off Lowe's head...

Obligatory comment that I have to make at least a couple of times a season: I like listening to Paul O'Neill talk about hitting. He's not the most articulate color commentary guy in general, but he can talk hitting.
