This sure is a high brow place.

From their own site:

Hialeah’s West 49th Street retail corridor is lined with Starbucks, Fuddrucker's, Chili's, Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Palm Springs Mile and Westland Mall, staples for local shopping enthusiasts.

Oooh, Fuddrucker's!

Last home games for JDM and CVaz today, most likely.

If Winck doesn't win today, this will be the third month since 1901 (2022 Pirates, 1996 Tigers) where a team's starter did not win a single game in a calendar month.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
I am not in Hialeah, btw. I’m actually in North Beach, South Beach’s lesser known sibling, at the Bandshell for a ballet performance. Peaches plays here in a month. They do the full spread of programming. May last thought start time or wander over to the actual beach for a bite.

Today reminds me of a Fenway game that I was at on July 19, 2014. It was a Sunday and the Sox were headed out on a road trip after the game. The Sox were clearly sellers that season. Jon Lester pitched a gem against KC. As he walked off the mound at the end of 8 shutout innings and a pretty high pitch count, almost everyone knew that they had seen the last of Lester in a Red Sox uniform.

Somewhere Travis Shaw is watching and shaking his head. ”If the Sox had only kept me. I was just about to break out”.

What about Iglesias? He has a batting average over .300. He could have been signed for a fraction of what the team paid Story, and I would have preferred him. He's one of my binkies, as were Shaw and JBJ and I'm probably wrong. But this team is embarrassing and it is hard not to look at the Road Not Taken.

I happen to be wearing my 2013 WS tee shirt. I wear it a lot. That was my favorite team ever. And then there's this year.

I really hope they don't trade Vaz. I know he has value and they should, but he's the one piece I think they should retain unless they get bowled over.

Vazquez isn’t a guy you are going to offer a QO to- so it seems like an attempt should be made to extend him now. If it’s clear that it’s not likely to happen, then trade him and get a look at Wong / Hernandez, and get a head start on the C position. If they aren’t going to extend CV, I don’t see the point in keeping him for the rest of the year, assuming they can get something useful for him now.

He's also 32 this year. With Story they saw a chance to sign a player three years younger who can slide over to SS if/when X leaves. Iglesias not so much.

Sheesh. And so it begins.

Wish we could have had guys like Hunter Renfroe. Guy just loves to hit at Fenway….

Boy, how quickly we forget that Renfroe is a big reason why they lost to Houston. How many GIDP did he have in that series? How many costly fielding mistakes did he make? His brain took that series off. Not a great look for a player of his caliber.
