This has been a very pro-Tampa broadcast.
it’s because ESPN announcers start with the easiest, most straightforward narrative possible and then sculpt their commentary and tone around it.

a few weeks ago it was “prestigious Yankees team battling back against their rivals against all odds” and tonight it’s “scrappy, david-and-goliath underdog reclaims first place with a sweep and sends a message to the wealthy Red Sox”

Not only do I want runs, I specifically want the Sox to load the bases, then hit a gap shot to score all three. That is what I want. Thank you.

Almost ball 4, just caught the edge...almost a double, smoked line drive right at 'em...just one of those stretches...

Reminds me of Chris Collinsworth covering Sunday Night Football. Whichever team is playing better in the game he drools over.

Hanger-ific. A majority of the viewing audience could have hit that one out.

One of the most predictable outcomes ever. Pitching great & then loses strike zone and gets squeezed a little so he grooves one.

This team is responding to their general manager’s message that they weren’t good enough to add at the deadline and really leaning into being awful
