This was supposed to be a day off but making up one more cancelled Opening Week game with the in-playoff-position Orioles.

Pats preseason game 1. Field of Dreams game for MLB (albeit they decided on Cubs-Reds, horribad decision there). Open question who will bother with this one.

I did see Rich Hill volunteered to go to the pen for awhile. I chuckled, does it matter where he goes? I think Wacha is still a rehab start away...

Someone explain to me why Plawecki is getting starts against RHP?

Winckowski vs Kremer, who was supposed to start last night for Baltimore. Rainout allows him to start today, instead of planned bullpen game

Isn't it better for our blood pressure if Plawecki isn't available to come in to pinch hit at a crucial time in the game? This way there won't be a crucial time in the game.
Retirement hasn't been kind to your critical thinking skills.

Who's watching?

People with broken tv remotes? Those who lost bets? The original Captain Pike?

Not me apparently. I'm visiting Maine from California and the rental house only has a Roku stick. MLB.tv says I' m blacked out from their broadcast. I would cheerfully pay to see the game on TV.

Do I watch the first Patriots preseason game so I can see a bunch of guys running around clueless who will be asking me if I want fries with that in a month, or the Red Sox game so I can see a bunch of guys running around clueless who should be asking me if I want fries with that now.

Decisions, decisions.

I like Cora. I get that the bottom of the order was coming up and he needed to steal a few outs. He only had a few options. But can we have a rule that Darwinzon only pitches down by 10 or more?

I've never stopped reading a book in the middle, no matter how bad it is. I'll complete it, no matter what. Same with the Red Sox. I complain about them as much as anyone, but I won't stop watching the games. I'm on for the ride.

It's been many years since we were looking UP at Baltimore in the standings this late in the season. It's not fun.

imagine living in the Baltimore area and having to deal with that? The fact is the Orioles are a good team, better than the Sox right now. Unfortunately, we will see that close up tonight.

You've got my sympathy.

Not sure what it is about the LET'S GO O'S!!, but they really get under my skin.

2011 specifically, but my hatred for them goes back to 1974, Red Sox were 7 games up on them in August, only to finish 7 games behind them, just an epic collapse.

Or maybe it was that shithole of a stadium they used to play in where they painted the outfield grass green to cover all the brown and dirt spots in that dump, or that boozebag Wild Bill Hiccup or whatever his name was who used to get on their dugout and lead their 47 fans in a LET'S GO O'S!! drunken chant.

Just an annoying fucking franchise.

To elaborate , they went from 7g up on 8/23 to 2.5g back on 9/12, while doing things like losing a doubleheader to the O’s 1-0 and 1-0 while two of the Red Sox three best hitters were.......

.........in Pawtucket.

But I’m not bitter

The poorly veiled 90s era toxic masculinity from Youkilis is pathetic. I don’t see him growing out of it anytime soon.

Huh? Please explain. Something about not liking man buns? That's toxic?
Slutters, jokes about snipers, jokes about things perceived as effeminate. Veiled, but very clumsily in my opinion. I won’t bog the discourse down here with this, but happy to talk over DMs if people want to better understand.

I'll just pay closer attention and see if I notice anything off. But isn't a cutter a mix of a slider and a cutter? You think that's aimed at women?

Kind of nice to see throws go to first base without worrying whether the first baseman will catch it and/or have his foot on the bag
