German (1-2, 5.09 ERA) vs. Eovaldi (5-3, 4.23 ERA), 7:10 p.m. EDT
Montas (4-9, 3.59 ERA) vs. Crawford (3-4, 4.30 ERA), 7:15 p.m. EDT
Taillon (11-2, 3.95 ERA) vs. TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA), 7:08 p.m. EDT

The Yankees are reeling and a perfect way to stop reeling would be to do well this weekend. Here's hoping!

German possibly pitching his last game ever for NY tonight if he does not look decidedly better, his results have been OK the last few games but also he has gotten lucky with hard-hit balls right at fielders.

Eovaldi has beaten NY in a lot of big games since joining BOS, very satisfying to see him look that frustrated after the Judge HR.

Also Chaim has a very difficult job this winter in many ways, good luck with the Eovaldi decision/s too. He can be dominant sitting high nineties, mid-nineties he has much less margin for error.

German getting squeezed a little bit and looks...fine?
Yeah, he has looked good through two, he has gotten stronger each start so far coming in. His control is better tonight so he can be more aggressive in the zone.

Yeah, this is a guy well aware of what Schmidt did in AAA last night, heh.

I am already counting the days until Bader bumps Benintendi to the bench, two weak first pitch outs in 3 ABs tonight.

DJ and now Trevino with impressive 11 pitch ABs on Eovaldi, he had a lot of starts like this for NY where he could not finish guys off and the pitch count just skyrocketed.

Michael Kay and O'Neill giggling about how DJ is in such a great spot in the order hitting ahead of Judge, they both agree no one will ever walk him. Dear YES:

AL BB leaders:

Winker 64
Judge 62
Bregman 62
LeMahieu 61

German gets Devers 0-2 and says "You know what? I'll think I'll be extra careful and set things up for a double play".

I agree you can't bring in a lefty for JD, but throw fucking strikes.

Nice pick Jose!

Well, I guess they've got to figure things out in the bullpen. Plenty enough talent, but probably need to relook various roles.

I am still a few minutes behind but Chapman absolutely has to stay in for the 9th, he is just getting warmed up.

Benintendi with the big hit to start it, his full dive catch earlier was sick too.

I like Effross, but Chapman only threw 13 pitches, definitely would have left him in.

Can't argue with what works.

Effross is good. Filthy stuff. But man, every high leverage situation he comes into, I'm going to worry about him losing the plate.

Great win.

Also obviously an incredible game by IKF, defense too (and two massive plays by Benintendi) but for the record Peraza hit his 16th HR tonight, 2-5 with 3 runs scored and a stolen base. His OPS is over .900 for the last couple of months, but he is still very young, he would be I think the sixth youngest current player if brought up, behind the two ATL kids and three others.

I am sure there are actual answers now but I think they are being careful with Montas and will slowly ramp him back up. Also Luetge hadn't pitched in a long time, I'm sure that was some of it.

Also no one wants Peraza to bump IKF off the roster, they just want to give him some games at SS and DFA Marwin (sorry dude).
