I'm tired like everyone else here of networks seizing every chance at a national broadcast when NYY-BOS are involved, no matter how the teams are doing. But here we are. 7:15. Tomorrow is ESPN too, robbing us of precious Eck time as he heads towards full retirement.

The pitching matchup is intriguing enough - old farmhand Montas making his second Yankee start after a pretty bad one against STL, against rookie standout (no one was saying this months ago, but it's true since July) Kutter.

Yes. Here is the transaction history per BBRef. He was signed as a IFA as a 16 year old, but used as a trade chip in the 2013 run for Peavy.

Red Sox called up Jeurys Familia. He’s active. Kaleb Ort optioned. Chris Sale — unsurprisingly — goes to 60-day IL. Familia was signed to minor league deal this week. Former All-Star.

A few other interesting names in that early trade and the few following before he became a very good pitcher in a Oakland. Really wish Bloom dealt for him but not sure what a similar package could have been offered (and accepted).

Not impossible but improbable.

I could see the Orioles and Mariners collapsing a bit. The Twins and White Sox could also slow down.

what amazes me most is that the Sox were something like 18-19 games behind the Yankees at one point, have played putrid ball, and are now only 15 back.

THE AL EAST IS STILL IN PLAY!

Did you mean to convey “yourself,” in reference to @E5 Yaz , or did you want to urge us that one ought not be influenced by their own self, given research that has shown that people are not always good judges of their own preferences or even why they think that they think as they do?
