Weird how compelling this game is between two teams in the midst of serious dysfunction, even as the MFY are sure to make the playoffs and the Sox definitely aren’t. But whichever team and their fans win this strange thing is going to feel an enormous sense of relief.
Given that Sawamura throws the hardest splitter in the world, that might be the hardest splitter that has ever been thrown.
The entire Yankee organization's testicles should be thoroughly squeaky clean after this broadcast.
Because half the league is ahead of them, they suck, they're injured, and their schedule is brutal?
Half the league being ahead of you isn't that big a deal when 6/15 make the playoffs, they sucked because they were injured, and by next week they'll be largely healthy. And schedule being brutal means they play the teams that they need to lose so they can catch up anyway.
Obviously they aren't a favorite, but they clearly still have a chance. Realistically they need to get to 85 wins to have a good shot, so they have to win 3 out of every 5 the rest of the way.
In fairness, Chapman refrained from actually shooting his girlfriend.
