Wacha was fantastic but let's pump the brakes on him a little. Before this year, the last three seasons his line is:

Series win against AL East Water!!!! I knew our chances were good when Toronto lost today. It seems when Toronto wins the Yankees win, and when they lose, Yankees lose.
Day-um. That may very well be the best game of the season. It’s almost like the MFYs aren’t as good when their deals with Satan run out.
Damn you with you facts! We’re trying to celebrate here. (& if you’re looking for a positive trend, his FIP last year was 4.47 and this year 3.97. Probably not predictive but still . . .)
By all means let's celebrate. It wasn't a reaction to his game today or even his series. It was to the talk people were having in the thread of extending him a couple more years. That's all. He's been great for the Sox this year.
He seems fine to me. A finesse pitcher. He is definitely hurt by the juice ball era and injuries.
Wacha is hard to figure out; an interesting career so far. He was a big time prospect, great from 21-23, lousy when he was 24, lousy at 25, good at 26, a few more bad years…excellent this year, and still only 31. Seems like his success is all based on whether he keeps the ball in the park and he’s done that this year, after not the past few years. Has his pitch selection changed? If the Sox have figured out something; a 2 year, $20M deal or so seems reasonable but hard to know what his market will be. OTOH, his K rate is well below average and he’s been a bit lucky. So..:If teams think he’s really changed he would get far more than that, I think? But who knows. Hard to want to risk too long or too much on him.

.All kidding aside, if they’re not going to re-sign Eovaldi, they could do worse than Wacha (though I would prefer they aim higher).
That's an interesting stat - the one "twenty" yrs ago appears to be the 2001 series where Mussina lost the perfect game on Jurassic Carl's single to LF. 8 runs were scored that series, only two of them by the Red Sox.
One I kind of remembered was from 1974, after the Sox had collapsed in the end of August/early Sept. (in what Roger Angel later called a "mass batting catatonia"), they went into Shea where the Yankees resided for 2 yrs while the Stade Fasciste was being rebuilt, and beat them 4-0 and 4-2 in a double header, then lost a tough 1-0 game in extras the next day.; 11 total runs scored.
I actually like these announcers. Cone is really good. He is very preceptive as an analyst. As someone else said, except for Devers and Wacha tonight there really isn't much to praise the Red Sox about.
It’s not that, it’s the consistent Yankee ball-washing, both past and present, on every friggin Sunday night Yankee-Red Sox game. It gets old fast.
Nah. He wasn't working. Just enjoying a beer in the afternoon and I didn't want to bother him.
Yeah, but sweeping them, as the Sox should have, would be yummy, delicious. Admit it. The schadenfreude against es[barf]pn would have been even more fabulosa.
