Alex Cobb vs. Gerrit Cole in the 4:05 opener and then Masahiro Tanaka opposes Keegan Akin in the second game. Two pretty good pitching matchups.

Bryan Hoch said there was a good chance NY could have Judge and Stanton back by the end of the weekend, but he misunderstood, Boone said the end of NEXT weekend, so he deleted and reposted.

and the great news continues: Paxton has a 'setback' and probably gone for the year....
There was no way he was going to be able to stretch out to be more than a reliever anyway, so a bit of a blessing in disguise, with Deivi in his spot currently. Happ going down and Schmidt getting his starts would also be nice, in the bigger picture (to get an idea of what we have in Schmidt before offseason decisions need to be made).

What if the Yanks win 10 in a row?
I know this is a bit of a rhetorical question, but to get into the top 4 seeds and get the first series at home, NY either needs to win the division or have the best record of the three second place teams. Ten wins in a row would get them in that neighborhood at least.

I realize it is possible, but would require considerable luck and...if it weren't for bad...we've had none of that this year.
The schedule through Boston next weekend is not difficult. Sometimes teams go from cold to hot, or vice versa, like the flick of a switch. Something loosens guys up, like a no-hitter, or one guy getting insanely hot, and players relax.

Will be nice to get some reinforcements after this series, sounds like Gio and Loaisiga back on Tuesday after the off day and Judge/Stanton both back late next week.

You said it. Yanks were dying in the desert last week but now there is help coming.

Colt hit 100 on the last pitch of the 5th, 85 pitches through 5.

100 pitches even for Cole through 6, he probably should let someone else take the 7th but I am guessing he will try to finish it himself.

Let’s see if this team can stay focused and win another game tonight. They have a lot of catching up to do.

I don’t know why you guys are so bearish on this team’s chances in the postseason. Tanaka has turned things around and is a solid No. 2, and we saw today what Cole is capable of when he’s on. Anything can happen in a 3 or 5 game series, and I still like the front of the rotation and the back end of the bullpen, especially in a short series. You just need a healthy lineup (big if, I know).

I just want them to start playing well, and they have done it three games in a row. Teams can go from flat to sharp quickly if they keep pushing and the schedule gives them a few soft spots. These are the Orioles, after all.

Deivi is looking like the #3 currently, I wish they would let Schmidt audition already for a top 4 spot.

This is the real dilemma for Boone and Cashman. Will they commit to youth over experience? Gotta see García a few more times. Not sure where Schmidt fits. Happ might be their best option at 4.

Happ is the #4 currently over Montgomery, I’m not even saying bump one of them but work Schmidt in also. He’s a starter, let him prepare like one and start a few times before this silly season ends.
