Shoulda never eschewed Buddy Garrity's generosity and stayed with the Panthers.

Source: prison discovered #Hernandez had access to ink at time of prison fight where Hernandez was a lookout #wcvb

So that prison security thing is working out swell for Hernandez! What else has he got access to? Nice look for the Warden and their new high profile inmate.  Couple weeks in, he's got a discipline issues and a sweet tattoo with INK!

AH really does seem committed to "the life" -- an old phrase my uncle used to describe the lifestyle that certain childhood friends in NYC graduated into. However long his incarceration lasts, I suspect AH will be comfortable in prison.

ps One of those "friends" met his demise in a very celebrated fashion in the Harbor Lounge, a few blocks from RR's house.

Oh, "the life"

FOX25 EXCLUSIVE: Aaron Hernandez's defense wants jury probeMore>>

  • FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Less than two months after Aaron Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison, his lawyers have come up with a new reason why they believe his conviction should be overturned, and it involves one of the jurors that sat on his case.
FOX25 has confirmed Hernandez's lawyers recently submitted four new filings at the Bristol County Superior Courthouse in Fall River, including one titled "Defense Motion for post verdict inquiry respecting a juror's exposure to extraneous matters."

We haven't been able to determine the exact nature of the allegations because Hernandez's lawyers asked for the documents to be sealed and unavailable to the public

According to FOX25 News legal analyst Brad Bailey, the filing indicates the defense believes a juror was exposed to outside information during the trial that may have influenced the panel when it deliberated in mid-April.

"These are experienced lawyers, they know the rules, they know the hurdles they have to reach.  Clearly there is something there or they wouldn't be doing it." Bailey said in an interview Monday evening with FOX 25's Ted Daniel.

Yes, the rest of AH's money plus a boost to the public perception of their tenacity. Because Lord knows I've never made a motion that I knew had next to no chance of success.

Appeals are won. Occasionally. But you're statistically unlikely to "win" on appeal. And if you do, it's almost always a mistrial. Which just means you've "won" a second trial. AH would have been better served by a stronger defense team at trial. (Part of that is, of course, preserving the record for appeal.)

There's a common misperceptions that one ought to "try the case for the appellate court." IMO you should almost never go into a case with that mentality. You should show up to win. If you're not committed the jury can smell it on you. Sometimes you find/know the deck is stacked and you raise issues and preserve them like crazy -but that's a separate issue. Going into trial with the idea you're "speaking to" the appellate court instead of the jury is a far weaker strategy.

The anonymous tipster who called an Aaron Hernandez defense attorney and raised questions about a member of the jury who convicted his client of murder was having a "sexually explicit relationship" with the former tight end “prior to and during the trial,” according to prosecutors.

“This relationship includes letters ‘Katy’ sent to the defendant that were subsequently destroyed by the defendant,” McCauley wrote. “In addition to the ongoing relationship between ‘Katy’ and the defendant, the defendant had a relationship with ‘Katy’s’ father while there were inmates together at the Dartmouth House of Corrections.”

I am assuming that Hernandez was the 'top' in this relationship.

But you never know....

I'm not following. Did "Katy" have sex with him while incarcerated? If so, did she work in the jail or did the father set that up? Or was Aaron having sex with both of them? That reads really odd.

It's like the Bizarro World version of the menage a trois scene in End of Days.

That reads pretty damn straightforward.

Aaron had some type of undisclosed sexual relationship with Katy.

Aaron also knew Katy's father.

Not sure where the confusion is coming from.

Because the author used the word "relationship" twice in the same sentence and it's difficult to parse out whether the first time it was meant as sexual and the second as platonic?  Stop being so heteronormative.

Missed the fact that the dad was an inmate with AH.  I get the state is going heavy on the relationships to discredit the source, and it appears they have accomplished the goal. But I still want the detail. He was incarcerated while the state alleges they were having sex.

Here is the actual filing

Hey, do you know how tough it is to get conjugal visits approved?

there was a menage a trois in End of Days? Did it involve Arnold's nanny and housekeeper?

Sadly no. It involved Gabriel Byrne and two actresses portraying mother and daughter.

Wasn't there a thread once about whether people check the tp after wiping? Guess you know which side of the breach I stand on now.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Sultan, Rankin, and Fee are not living up to their billing as crackerjack appellate attorneys.  While theses kind of shenanigans (assuming the prosecutor is somewhat correct about what's going on) don't preclude the defense from raising a legitimate issue later on, they're also not exactly going to be forgotten.
