I was out watching the game last night and on the ride home I had The Sports Hub on. Adam Jones was declaring that JBJ still sucks and that although Eovaldi is pitching well, he hasn't done anything to impress him.

This is Boston sports radio.
Adam Jones is just so fucking thirsty. At this point he's practically begging for people to acknowledge him.

"Guys, I'm totally like Mike Felger, right? Right? Just like Felgie! Please listen to me. Please. PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSE."
He's pathetic.
Sometimes, those glassed-in radio studios act like mirrors. He was looking at his own face when he said that stuff.
I’m not even sure how anyone can get mad at Adam Jones. The guy is so over the top and so desperate for attention that I genuinely almost feel sorry for the guy at this point.
Listening tonight before Game 4, Adam Jones equated JBJ's Game 3 Grand Slam to an empty net goal.
This liquid-emitting fart deserves his own thread. I hope he gets mounted by a rabid dog.

Who cares what some washed up Safety has to say about baseball? He should go back to playing Pacman and STFU.

Wait is this Orioles Adam Jones or formerly Pacman Adam Jones? Have to believe there is no way Oriole Adam Jones says that shit.

The one thing you immediately notice when moving away from the Northeast is that the sports media there is fucking looney tunes, with Boston's its uncut core.

It isn't better elsewhere, mind you, just (for the most part) mild and dopey. Edit--actually, no, probably better by default. It isn't "good" is more what I meant.

Then again you read the game threads here and when ~20% of them are people whining about last night's road win to put the Sox up 3-1 in the LCS against a juggernaut of a team or haughty condescension toward the first year manager orchestrating it following their 108 win season you think "maybe this is an accurate reflection of the audience."

It's neither Pacman nor the Oriole outfielder, just a guy specializing in trolling and HotTakez on The Sports Hub on weeknights.

Yup. We get the sports radio we deserve. And Adam Jones is its King.

I've never heard of this guy before seeing this thread. Wish I still hadn't. Not sure why anyone cares about what some troll wth a microphone has to say. I will go back to not caring one bit about his existence.

I googled him and his face is as bad as his words. I, too, do not understand why anyone gives these people the time of day. Why is there even sports radio anymore? Do these people not have the internet?

Whoever cuts his hair should be hanged as a war criminal, and whoever didn’t tell him how bad it looks should either be shot in the kneecap or given 100 bucks depending on whether they’re protecting his feelings or letting him go out in the world looking like a 5th grade latchkey kid.

During last night's drive home he was still banging the JBJ sucks drum, even bringing up his "supposed" defensive prowess, saying, "Talk to me once he's won a Gold Glove."
C'mon. Seriously?

Felger needs to have a talk with his protege and tell him that all-negative, all the time doesn't work. Especially when the guy you're railing against just won the ALCS MVP.

Christian Arcand knows his his shit and is a good radio personality, I have no problem with Jones playing the heel if they turn the show into a Siskel vs. Ebert thing, but so far I don't see evidence of that.

I have found myself gravitating towards his show on my drive home (usually 7 - 8 PM). He is relentlessly negative, but I have come to admire the creativity involved in coming up with a negative spin on each and every bit of news. He has elevated it to an art form. Sometimes he's even right, second-guessing the home-town take on the latest developments. Last night one of the themes was that Al Horford, like every free agent who went to a different team, wanted out of town. He implied that the spin that the Celtics could have had him had they only upped their bid is a face-saving lie. Now you may not believe it, but it's an interesting take. Needless to say, he's been skeptical about Kyrie at least since he skipped game 7 of the Eastern Division finals in 2018. Those of us who gave Kyrie the benefit of the doubt on such matters have had to eat humble pie. Adam Jones was right all along. This may be akin to the clock that is right twice a day, but in any event I am entertained. Maybe you will be too.

I tune in for the same reason. A few months ago Danny Ainge did his weekly interview with Toucher & Rich and said something like, "Kyrie Irving is very low on my list of things to be concerned about with this team." Later that night Adam Jones kicked off the show with "On Ainge's list of problems...Kyrie Irving!" That's some inspired trolling...awesome.

Adam Jones’ new thing is to call Brady “Tom Baby.” During his opening monologue the other night, he must have said something like this about 10 times:

“After the game on Sunday, we heard from a somber Tom Baby. I mean, Tom Brady. Slip of the tongue everyone.”

What a wit! Guys hear me out, Brady sounds a lot like ... BABY! And the way he's been acting lately, boy, the jokes write themselves!

This is so bad, that has to be the joke...right?

After the Bruins game last night (which sadly I missed entirely) I listened for 5-10 minutes to his show. Long enough to hear him go on about how Patrice Bergeron was incredibly overrated. No numbers to back the assertion up. No "check out this game and see these plays". Just obnoxious trolling.

I hadn't listened for any amount of time since he crapped all over the Sox crushing the Yankees in the 2018 playoffs, and this reaffirms that decision.

The last thing I listen to on my morning commute is usually T&R, so every so often I'll hear the crossover from F&M right when I start the car to head home, and it's always cringeworthy. Jones is truly awful and unfunny. It's one thing to troll the audience, but this is a whole new level. Must be a big overlap with masochists and people who listen to sports radio at night (or at all, I guess).

I read on twitter that he actually was criticizing Belichick for the dig on Lane Johnson. Unreal.

It's sad that the media (or talk show hosts) have to succumb to these types of takes. Even our local guy here in Portland has regressed into a mini-Kellerman/Wright/Parker. It's sad. He's always hated the Pats, but at least he used to be somewhat reasonable about it. It's unlistenable radio.

This is what I don't get. I find this garbage (and most of Felger and Mazz) totally unlistenable, yet ratings are through the roof for F&M. Am I weird for reacting the way I do? Clearly I'm in the minority, but I have absolutely zero interest in this type of radio,

I quite cold turkey a couple years ago and am undoubtedly much better off because of it. Every now and then, I'll tune in for a second to remind myself how bad it is. And it's always bad. I have no idea the answer to your question. I assume it's mostly people that feel like they have no other options (podcasts) and want their sports talk in the easiest manner possible.

I don't think that you're weird. I think it's weird to listen to two people try to gaslight their audience for four hours a day, every weekday. It's okay to say that certain parts of Sunday's game weren't great, but when you do it week after week after week and the team that has a 9-1 record, at some point, as a listener, you have to ask what games are these hosts watching? And it always comes back to the same security blanket, "We're just being objective. YOU are the ones with the footie pajamas."

Tony Maz did the same thing with the Red Sox every day for the entire 2018 (and 2013) season. I mean that 2018 team steam rolled through the season and dominated the playoffs and Massarotti spent 90% of the time saying, "I don't think that these guys are that good." Okay, who's good then? Celtics fall in the same boat.

The only team that they don't do this to is the Bruins and that's because Felger was a big B's fan when he was a kid. So you know, objectivity.

I'm in the same boat. I once listened to ONLY sports talk radio while I was driving, I was the perfect listener for the stations. Then I got bluetooth audio in my phone and it was podcasts and music from there on out and I'm so much happier. Occasionally, if I'm just driving down the street or to the store and I don't feel like pulling up something to listen to on my phone, I'll turn on WEEI or 98.5 and I'm always reminded how bad I once had it.

Jones is the worst of the worst, a humorless tool. I haven't tuned into his nighttime show in ages, but every so often he fills in for Toucher and Rich, and it's just horrific. The last time he had that gig I think I lasted 10 minutes before I tuned out for the week.

I can guarantee he reads this thread and he gets a chubby. “See? They’re talking about me, I matter!”

Last night from The Sports Vulture:

“You’ve got to wonder did the Bruins cost themselves a Cup last year by not load managing Bergeron and Chara like the Raptors did with Kawhi?”

Yup. Unfortunately for the Bruins Charra and Bergeron got tired at the exact same time, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I remember wondering why both of those players were napping on the bench during the first period.
