It’s completely different. You don’t have 2 players undefended basically standing above each post ping ponging the puck back and forth. The awkward lateral movement I saw goalies have to make due to players trying to score highlight doorstep goals is nothing like they experience normally, and that’s how injuries happen
I've always thought that a goalie getting selected for an all star game is a double-edged sword. OTOH--they've been going for 6 years in this format without a goalie injury. I suspect the goalies are aware of the stakes and are proceeding accordingly. OTTH-- I think DePietro's injury cascade started at an all-star game under the old format.

Regardless, I'd prefer the games were 4-4 instead of 3-3. Might give it a slightly larger resemblance to real hockey (and allow defensive players to exhibit some skills), but still keep the excitement.

A goalie going post to post is not an awkward lateral movement and something they frequently practice. If they were going full speed in the ASG, maybe you have an argument (I still don't think you would personally) but they aren't. The game is played at a glorified beer league pace and the goalies are putting in the same mediocre effort the players are.

Rick DiPietro was made out of glass and has been the only example I know of in the last ~20 or so years of an ASG where someone was injured. Worrying about goalie hypothetically getting injured when they never get injured in the ASG seems like worrying to worry than a legitimate concern.

I know, I am a goalie, I'm not worried about the post to post movement. Pros can bend in ways most can't, but the problem is when we have to make another move when we are fully at our stretch limit, that's when we get hurt. I saw that multiple times in each game with the goalie having to make an extra move that they wouldn't normally have to within the speed of a normal game. It's the slower speed that allows the players to try an extra pass or make a silly move that puts the goalie's in physically awkward positions
