I may be in the market for a new tablet and have been investigating all the changes since my current Nexus 10 is currently missing(my 4 year old has hidden it in a place that the sun truly doesn't shine and after a weekend of searching I'm approaching the point of calling it gone as he truly doesn't remember where he put it as he's missed out on time he would have been able to play games he enjoys).

Right now I'm looking at a range of devices, one thing I've loved about the Nexus is it's been rock solid with no bloatware and the specs have held up for the most part since it was purchased.  I'm looking at the following devices quite hard, anyone with any experience with any of them I'd love to hear your thoughts or thoughts on any other's I haven't considered.  I'd love to get the new Sony, but I just don't know if I can wait until July when it comes stateside.

Nexus 9 - Limited Bloat - seems solid
Nvidia Shield Tablet - Gaming oriented
Lenovo Yoga 2 10 - Huge Battery low pricepoint
Samsung Tab S 10.5 - I have an S5 so there is some push to go samsung, plus the Nexus 10 was basically samsung but I am sick of Bloat...

What says SOSH, wait for the Sony or go with one of the tablets above or available elsewhere that I haven't investigated?

I had a Dell venue and I hated it so much that I returned it. Wasn't user friendly at all.  I have a Samsung Tab 7 for my 5 year old and I absolutely love it.  Basically the same as the S5 so it is very easy to navigate.

I had posted a thread about this awhile back and went back and forth for awhile.  I ended up getting Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and so far I've been completely happy with my decision.  I added a logitech bluetooth keyboard (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Protective-Keyboard-Samsung-920-006401/dp/B00KJIXEL0)  and now I carry it way more than my laptop.  The screen is amazing.  Just drop dead gorgeous.  As for the bloat I guess I'm used to it since I had an S3 and got an S5.  So i spent a hour or some removing what I could, hiding what I couldn't remove and customizing it pretty much just like my phone.

I think Samsung is a horrible company and think touchwiz is a plague upon mankind.  I own a Nexus 9 and like it quite a bit, I never understand why people buy non Nexus devices, although in this case I suppose if you're price conscious you can do better.

Care to elaborate further on this statement?

The Tab S is great. The battery isn't great, however, if it's in standby. It drops a massive amount of battery juice in only a couple of days. My iPad could sit unused for weeks and it loses a few percent.

My friend has the Sony, he bought it in Hong Kong, or had a friend of his in HK ship it to him.  I just got to check it out yesterday, it's amazing - I would wait.

If you can't wait, get the Nexus.

Very possibly, but my usage patterns  means if its on my desk i charge it, and it rarely goes unused for more than 24 hours so I haven't noticed.   Battery life was pretty far down my list of requirements.  Enough to watch a few movies during a flight more than suits me.

They lost me on the Nexus devices the second they made the GMail app the universal email app and STILL don't allow you to turn off conversation view.

Yes, for that purpose it's an incredible tablet. It is fast and gorgeous. But for a tablet you just leave lying around on the nightstand or in the bathroom, it's not ideal because the battery drain is unstoppable.

Ok, so the patience is wearing thin...  I want to get the Sony when it comes stateside, so I'm officially looking for a 7-8 inch screen device for the "kids" to hold me over until the next wave of tablets come out in June/July.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4 are running price reductions until "mid April" to blowout the supply for the 2015 models IMO.   I think I'm going to pickup the 8.4 and run that for a few months, it will make the April vacation car ride worth the price.
