Anyone get iOS7 pushed out to them yet? I've been checking periodically but haven't seen anything on my phone yet.

I got it pushed out to me (I'm on an iPhone 4).

It's been pushed out to me. But the server is just getting destroyed right now. It took about 45 minutes to download 752MB with a comical "69 hours remaining".

My iPhone registered the update, but it's been slowing going to download it....and it failed because I don't have enough space on the phone.  (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I backed up before I started downloading. If I don't like it and i restore the back up, I will have ios 6 again, right?

Yep I got it downloaded and installed. It is definitely different. Not sure if I like it yet or not.

I'm going to do this on the better half's iPhones and iPad tonight.

She has iCloud- you back up using that? Is that just for contacts and the like?  Or is there some sort of iOS titanium equivalent that allows you to wipe the phone and reset back to the backup point?

Took about 5 tries to get the download to actually start on my iPhone, but it's running now. iPad took 2 tries, but it's installing now too.  I did some fiddling with the beta versions, so most of the changes aren't a huge surprise.

I think I might like the new look and feel, for the most part.  But the default menus and all do seem a little washed out with the black on white scheme. All apps will need to be updated to take advantage of these new UI changes, as my existing test applications are still retaining their old pre-v7 look and feel. I need to rebuild them using the v7 SDK to see the impact.

Have it installed, really like it so far. Only negative is the big rectangle around the saved icons on the bottom of the phone - don't think that's necessary and it's kinda ugly. Other than that, I'm a fan.

I'm going to wait a few weeks before updating anything, mainly because we're on vacation next week and I don't want to fiddle with any issues when away from a computer.

I've been on since beta1 and honestly it's not really materially that much different.  Some nice things of course, but nothing new that was introduced is something that I couldn't live without.

The only thing which changed how I worked was opening up the amount of crap that I could pile into a folder.

Go into settings on the phone, and click iCloud. There you will see what is selected to back up. I have everything turned on except for mail, given that would just be redundant. Make sure all pertinent items are turned on, and click into "Storage & Backup", and click Back Up Now at the bottom.

Once that is done, you can run the upgrade. I think if it's just an OTA upgrade, you won't need to restore anything, now that I think about it (I haven't done OTA updates in a while). The phone should reboot with the new OS and everything where it was before. Can someone confirm/deny this?

Yeah I should have clarified that I didn't mean functionally, but it was just such a sharp visual shift for someone who has used an iPhone since the 3G that it's taking some recalibration on my part. I'm liking some things, not liking others.

That is correct. Once it installs, you just need to connect to the internet and login to iCloud (it guides you through this) and you're up and running as if nothing had happened.

Should I upgrade my 4s to ios7?  Still running ios5, and it's sluggish already.

Why are you not running iOS 6 on the 4S?

I'm 90% of way through my upgrade to 7 on the 4S, i'll post my impressions later tonight.

I tried downloading it at work, with its crappy WiFi, and to no one's surprise the download failed. I'm at home now and it's "preparing update..."

Been using it on iPad for a few months, but just updated the phone today. It makes a bigger difference on a smaller screen. I like it so far.

7 on my 4S and my iPad 3 seems to be running fine on both. Neither has had any issues of sluggishness or anything weird like that. It seems about the same speed as 6.x was. Battery consumption seems about the same so far too.

Been using it for a couple hours. So far it's pretty "whatever" to me. Generally I find the look to be washed-out.

Dedicated FaceTime app is nice. The new Calendar app SUCKS for me. Font is too thin. More taps to see events in monthly view? Come on.

Also, no weather in notification center.

Other than that everything seems fine but unexciting.

The weather in the notification center moved from a notification frame to within the "Today" page where it shows daily calendar events and such. It'll show a brief paragraph with the current weather in your location.

Maybe I don't fully understand Air Drop, but why would I want to be discoverable to everyone in my contacts? Would other people in my contacts know my location or when I'm in proximity to them, is that right?

iOS 7 absolutely murders the battery life on my test phones.

I can't seem to crop a pic to save as wallpaper/backgound. I can crop it, but when adjusting it as a background, the pic is way to large.

iO6 was easy to do this. Ideas?

This. My iPhone 5 basically needs to be constantly charged. I'm a heavy phone user as is (needing to charge twice daily anyway), but it's out of control now. I get like two hours.

I had a weird bug occur. Basically it seemed like the weather app was stuck in a loop requesting location data or something. The location services arrow thing was showing after seeing the weather in the Notification Center as usual, but it just didn't go away. And my battery was draining like crazy. I went into the Settings app and looked under location services and it showed Weather as recently looking for location data, so I turned off Location Services for the Weather app and immediately toggled it back on. It seemed to fix the issue; the app and Notification Center are both back to just briefly looking at location when I bring them up, and the battery usage is back to normal.

Just figured I'd post a heads up here in case anyone else has this happen without noticing it.

location service has always been off for me, as that has always killed the battery on any version

I've never had a need to turn it off globally, it's always just been a matter of restricting it to things where I actually consider it useful. It certainly has a few uses for things like maps, geotagging photos, MLB.tv requires it for blackout info, Siri ("where can I find the closest X?"), etc. It's just a matter of turning it off for apps and system services that aren't worth the battery drain (for example, I have 0 interest in using up part of my battery life so that Apple can serve me an iAd targeted around my current location).

Currently debating whether I want to leave on the crowdsourced traffic, "Popular Near Me" (no idea what this one is), and Frequent Locations. Frequent Locations seems potentially useful, as apparently it can read patterns in your travel and give you travel time estimates automatically in the Notification Center Today page and stuff. Not sure how often Frequent Locations ends up calling location services though, it certainly sounds like it might be a bit of a battery hog. All 3 of these will probably end up off for me though, as each of them seems to be a likely battery drain.

Yea, frequent locations is cool. I noticed it by accident a month ago and now I'm addicted. "It will take you 45 minutes to drive to xyz" is a really cool feature.

Wait, how does that pop up/come into play? Does it just push out that info, or is it part of an app?

2 things I really like: swiping left to see the timestamps of all texts (this should already have been available) and when you have group texts it only displays the first names of the contacts. As someone who texts way too often, these are both very nice.

AirDrop seems to use bluetooth to determine who is nearby, and allows you to share things with them (the actual sharing gets done over wifi.)

So it's not going to share your location with everyone on your contacts list, but if you have a picture/video/whatever and you opt to share it via airdrop, it will provide you a list of people it can discover nearby to share it with, the scope of that list of people is governed by whether or not you choose "Everyone" or "Contacts".

At least that's the way it was supposed to work the last time I heard...

This is actually one of the cool things about the Google/Notification bar on Android phone, that it would spontaneously tell me how far I was from either a frequent location, OR a location it detected in an email (GMail only).  i haven't yet seen the feature in iOS7, as my test phone has been sitting in my office since I installed it, and I just got my real phone updated yesterday. I'll be interested to see how much it learns on its own.

Hmmm... I wonder what combination of settings is causing it this time. It seems like every new damn version of iOS has a few configs that suck the battery dry.  In my case, I haven't done any tweaking of the location settings at all yet, and my battery life is fine. But I know some other folks I work with how are seeing various levels of drain with the same usage patterns.

I've only used it for 30 minutes since i took it off the charger this morning, but 3 hours of standby and 30 minutes of usage i'm on 98% (no wifi, all 3g/fake 4G) on my 4S. It'll be interesting to see how it goes through the day. I can tell you that on iOS 6, after 3 hours of standby and 30 min of use I'd be down in the high 80's by now.

I turned off location services to everything but stuff that needs it (maps, Siri etc.), I turned off the background process stuff and bluetooth is off (I never use it). I do have dynamic wallpaper on though.

I'm hoping with the 5S and the M7, i can turn a lot of location stuff on and have it not murder battery life due to the M7.

Pushes it out automatically on my today feed. I make the same journey everyday so it recognizes that and tells me how long my commute will be. Although I don't drive, it's still a good test for what the traffic looks like in general.

Battery life has been sub-optimal. Since upgrading I'm getting about 4.5 hours of regular use out of my 4s between charges.  That's not great.  Some adjustments (like these) are starting to help.

My 4S was dropping like a stone all morning and then I shut off Bluetooth and it hasn't moved in the 2 hours since then.

In iOS 6 I was just leaving Bluetooth on all the time because I use it to hook into my car system Guess since it's actually super easy to shut off in the Control Center stuff, I will actually do that.

Feeling pretty snappy on the 4S except for the parts that I just think are not snappy as part of the OS period (some of the animated transitions are a bit slow to my taste, but I think that's an OS design decision I just don't agree with and hopefully one that will go away once more phones can do all these gaussian blurs and crap more quickly).

I'm not having battery issues, so far find that the iOS is what I expected (like Nip said, no new wows), but my biggest complaint is that the Control Center (which I was really stoked about) is virtually impossible to activate on my iPhone 5 because of my Otterbox Defender case.  Forums are getting slammed with people using the same case and other similar "bulky" cases making it extremely difficult to swipe the CC up.  That's disappointing.

iOS 7 Bug Lets Anyone Bypass iPhone's Lockscreen To Hijack Photos, Email, Or Twitter

As the video shows, anyone can exploit the bug by swiping up on the lockscreen to access the phone’s “control center,” and then opening the alarm clock. Holding the phone’s sleep button brings up the option to power it off with a swipe. Instead, the intruder can tap “cancel” and double click the home button to enter the phone’s multitasking screen. That offers access to its camera and stored photos, along with the ability to share those photos from the user’s accounts, essentially allowing anyone who grabs the phone to hijack the user’s email, Twitter, Facebook FB +0.95% or Flickr account.

So I have the 4s and have really never had any problems with it.  Works well, battery life is good (even on iOS7 so far).  The 5s is out tomorrow and I have an upgrade available from Verizon.  Besides it being a 4G LTE phone whereas the 4s isn't, what are the real benefits of upgrading?  I should also note that upgrading will cause me to lose my unlimited data.

Does upgrading on verizon cause you to lose unlimited data? I know on AT&T that it's grandfathered in and as long as you don't change the plan that you can keep it even if you get a new subsidized iPhone.

Going 4S to 5s on Verizon is going to be a much larger upgrade for you than it is for an AT&T user because the jump from Verizon's 3G data to LTE is huge, while on AT&T the 4S already has HSPA+ which is already pretty damn fast (at least for me it has been).

Somehow I feel like bugging out springboard to make Apps invisible is a bad idea. It's an interesting bug (curious how the hell someone stumbled onto that particular combination).

Yes I would lose unlimited data unless I pay for the full price of the phone.  I do know where is a new Verizon Edge, which is a carbon copy of T-Mobile's no plan and trade in for a new phone whenever you want but you still end up paying the full-price of the phone and am not sure if I would also lose my unlimited data with that.
