This is almost funny. Like, seriously, did the surgeon screw up?
Who knows, sometimes it can just tear again. This is almost funny. Like, seriously, did the surgeon screw up?
Any longterm issues you think?Who knows, sometimes it can just tear again.
I thought I recall he had a piece trimmed out rather than a "repair", so a new tear this soon is admittedly not too common.
I also saw his the initial post MRI update was "clean", which is confusing. Maybe someone else looked at the MRI and they disagreed.
Post op knee MRIs after partial meniscectomy are tricky to interpret.
It’s the obvious solution to reduce his wear and tear. Maybe it doesn’t stop this but they need to do all they can to limit injury exposure. He’s played in like 40-45% of possible games since COVID season. Please Angels, just have him DH next year. I want to actually be able to see him play a full season again.
Just glad I got to see him in CF in Fenway once at the height of his powers. Never would've guessed in 2019 that his next 5 years would play out like this.
It was totally clean. Not a single meniscus to be seen.I also saw his the initial post MRI update was "clean", which is confusing. Maybe someone else looked at the MRI and they disagreed.
Def could be, hard to say for sure.Any longterm issues you think?
People were suggesting he move to LF years ago. Hell, if I recall correctly Maddon was even partially fired for trying to move him permanently to LF.Trout's career will be one of those documentaries where in retrospect everyone will say 'Yes stealing a bunch of bases and playing CF at that build is going to result in a shorter career' while not a lot of us were raising that flag at the time. Whether myopia or blinded by the skill I'm not sure. Maybe some baseball writers were on top of this early, and if so props to them.
Maybe they can come up with a Trout rule like the Ohtani rule -- designated runner for him. I remember in Little League sometimes a kid with a broken leg would bat and another kid would be standing nearby to run when the kid hit it. Let's do that for Trout.People were suggesting he move to LF years ago. Hell, if I recall correctly Maddon was even partially fired for trying to move him permanently to LF.
Yikes. My son contracted Guillain-Barré when he was just shy of his 3rd birthday, so I have first-hand experience with this. In our case it progressed much more slowly, but it was misdiagnosed both by our regular pediatrician and by the hospital initially, so we didn't get the proper treatment for a few days until a neurologist was called in. Thankfully we never got to this stage. The good news is that at that age infusion therapy and physical therapy can completely reverse the damage; my son is 14 now and doing very well. Keeping the Freeman family in my thoughts.Scary, scary stuff for Freddie Freeman and his 3 year old son. Prayers are with the Freeman family.

Yeah, but Trout missing entire seasons makes me sad, while Rendon missing entire seasons is hilarious.Trout's got 6/$223 left on his contract. I can't imagine another team taking a risk on him given recent results, so whatever he's going to do, it's going to have to be for the Angels.
For those wondering, Rendon has 2/$77 left on his deal.
So should the Yankees have Judge start to dh now?Trout's career will be one of those documentaries where in retrospect everyone will say 'Yes stealing a bunch of bases and playing CF at that build is going to result in a shorter career' while not a lot of us were raising that flag at the time. Whether myopia or blinded by the skill I'm not sure. Maybe some baseball writers were on top of this early, and if so props to them.
He actually has been DHing a lot the past month or so with Stanton out, I could see him moving to 1B at some point. So should the Yankees have Judge start to dh now?
But, injuries are totally a fluke and random, not predictive!
I hope they wrap him up and he’s still hitting 50 bombs a decade from now.He actually has been DHing a lot the past month or so with Stanton out, I could see him moving to 1B at some point.
Wasn't part of the issue there that Maddon said to the press he'd consider moving Trout to left before discussing it with Trout?People were suggesting he move to LF years ago. Hell, if I recall correctly Maddon was even partially fired for trying to move him permanently to LF.
So we're currently scheduled for what, MT RFSa MT, and they're willing to move it up 3 days to FSa MTW FSa? But if the CSs both end on October 20th, they're willing to have 7 days with no baseball?@BNightengale
For the first time in history, MLB has flexible World Series schedule. If the NLCS and ALCS each end by Oct. 19, the World Series will be moved up three days to Oct. 25 to avoid the long layoffs.
My eyes and brain hurt.So we're currently scheduled for what, MT RFSa MT, and they're willing to move it up 3 days to FSa MTW FSa? But if the CSs both end on October 20th, they're willing to have 7 days with no baseball?
ETA: They're saying if both CSs end by the 5th game, they'll do this. Even if both CSs go 7 games, they're still planning 2 full days off in between game 7 and game 1. NLCS G6 is 10/20, ALCS G6 and NLCS G7 are 10/21, ALCS G7 is 10/22.
It's too few days with baseball in October.
There are zero postseason games on 10/4 (Friday). I'm glad they're only scheduling one day off between DS G5s and CS G1s.
Move all DS up 1 day - the WC teams don't need a day of rest before it starts. That's Friday 10/4. It schedules NLDS G5s for Thursday 10/10 and ALDS G5s for Friday 10/11. Start the NLCS on Saturday 10/12 and the ALCS on Sunday 10/13. This would have NLCS G7 on Sunday 10/20 and ALCS G7 on Monday 10/21. Start the WS on Tuesday 10/22! If the ALCS goes 7 games, great - it's baseball! Then you'd be looking at TW FSaSu TW.
Is it really so much better to go against MNF instead of SNF? Is that the problem we're trying to avoid?
Agreed, but the overall point is valid. The playoffs are too long, there are too many days off, and the most important baseball games of the year should never be played in November. My eyes and brain hurt.
Yikes 6 years left while the last 4 have been a disaster, so that is 10 years of paying a guy a half billion to pretty much contribute next to nothing to the franchise.Trout's got 6/$223 left on his contract. I can't imagine another team taking a risk on him given recent results, so whatever he's going to do, it's going to have to be for the Angels.
For those wondering, Rendon has 2/$77 left on his deal.
Apologies on being the terminology police, but based on the timelines for their (attempted) comebacks I doubt Trout or Djokovic had a meniscus "repair". That's when they try to save the meniscus tissue, suture it back together, and requires a long 6 month-ish rehab. I would assume they both just had partial meniscectomties when they trim out the torn tissue.Just horrible re Max, Freddie and family. But back to Trout, Novak Djokovic is dealing with a similar issue — a meniscus repair followed what appears to be a more substantial meniscus injury. FWIW.
Please oh please oh please have a special bullpen cart for that game
Everyone knew he wasn’t healthy before the deadline, plus he’s under contract next year, so not really a gotcha.Good job not trading Rengifo, Angels
