Sandy Alcantara is just a stud. He got himself into some major trouble in the 9th inning by loading the bases but got Gallo to groundout for the 1 run, complete game win.
4 complete games. The only other pitchers with more than one complete game are Framber Valdez and Aaron Nola.

Through 7 innings, Zach "Losing Pitcher" Plesac is holding the Mariners to a BABIP of .000, but trailing 3-1 because of the 3 solo home runs he's allowed.

The Guards score 3 in the 8th and shut the Mariners down the rest of the way for the win. Plesac gets his 3rd win in 23 starts. Seattle is now 51-1 when leading after 7 innings.

How is the Oriole pitching staff this good this year, most over expectations in recent memory
Austin Voth, who is definitely a pitcher I have heard of, is currently one-hitting the Astros. The Orioles really might sweep, this is wild.

EDIT: they took him out, but still

Josh Hader might be the worst pitcher in baseball right now, 6 ERs allowed just now in 1/3 of an inning and they put in a position player mid-inning to replace him.

Hader has turned into a left-handed Matt Barnes (2021 Barnes, that is). He was absolutely untouchable through Memorial Day. 18 appearances, 18 saves, 0 R, 4 H, 6 BB, 28 K, 61 batters faced. Since then, 25 appearances, 22 R, 29 H, 11 BB, 40 K, 107 batters faced. Unreal.

This Braves/Cardinals series has been exciting. Impressive 2 out, go ahead 3 run homers to Center against great relievers by both teams:

Swanson off of Helsley in the Top of the 7th after seeing 100 near his head the pitch before.

O’Neill immediately after Goldschmidt and Arenado struck out in the 8th.

Some really good baseball.

This sounds a little less impressive than it is, it's very rare on any team, I think Bob Gibson is tied with deGrom for the alltime record of 26:

"Valdez is the fifth pitcher since 2000 to record 20 consecutive quality starts. Jacob deGrom recorded 26 from 2018-19 for the Mets, Jake Arrieta had 24 from 2015-16 for the Cubs, Chris Carpenter had 22 in 2005 for the Cardinals and Johan Santana had 21 in 2004 for the Twins."
22 straight after an 8 inning, 2 run, 8 K/0 BB performance. An AL record, based on this list. Just a stunningly impressive run.

Man, this Orioles team is a lot of fun to watch.
I hated my experience in Camden when the Sox blew Game 162 in 2011 — their fans were generally obnoxious — but I have to say it’s good to see the Orioles and Mariners and Blue Jays playing meaningful baseball.

All have great fanbases, and the Orioles and Mariners have great stadiums, but while the Red Sox were bringing us (what felt like) endless joy, 4 World Series and another few ALCS appearances, those franchises have combined for 6 playoff appearances (counting Wild Card play ins) since the Henry group bought the Red Sox.

Sewald made it interesting, but K'd Baez to put the Mariners 14 games over .500, and keep them a half game out of the top WC.

Everyone in Phillies lineup had 2+ hits and an RBI. Wonder if that’s ever happened before.

18 runs. No HRs.

That’s great.
Absolutely great. Anything MLB or individual teams can do to make games more fun to watch/attend ought to be at or near the top of the to-do list. Take some lessons from MILB.

Of course with the Sox, finding a first baseman who can hit and field might be a higher priority!

Solid debut for Spencer Steer, with two walks, a bomb for his first career hit and a double that led to him scoring the walk off, game winning run for Cinci.
