August Topps Tier 1 Break

We'll be doing something a little different for this break:
1 Case of 2021 Topps Tier 1

https://www.blowoutcards.com/2021-topps-tier-one-baseball-hobby-12-box-case.html
Checklist and pics are here: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2021-topps-tier-one-baseball-cards

12 boxes per case - 1 pack per box - 3 cards per pack
Each Box Contains 2 Autograph Cards and 1 Relic Card.
I expect 24 total autos and 12 total relics (I have heard anecdotal reports of some boxes containing 2 relics and 1 auto, but I don't know if that's common).

18 Slots
Cost per slot:
$185 (includes Priority Mail shipping - with these higher end cards it's worth the extra cost IMO)
Each slot will receive 2 cards that they select in the draft

Format:
This will be a hit draft (you will draft individual cards after everything is opened on camera)

After slots are full and paid, I'll randomize draft order. We'll then rip everything live on YouTube. After everything has been opened, I'll list all 36 cards in the thread, and we'll draft using a snake format.

Sign up below. Just one slot per person to start with, but please indicate if you would want an additional slot if available.

I'll post payment info after we have sign ups for the 18 slots.

I'm sure I'm missing something, so let me know if there are questions.

In for one please!

and I can get another slot filled if needed, but I doubt that will be necessary with this bloodthirsty group.

PE, it's true, some boxes will have 2 relics and one auto. Occasionally, you'll see a box with 3 autos, sometimes 2 autos and 2 relics.

If there are more than 36 cards, I would suggest just randomizing any cards that aren't drafted.

Yes, good point. If there are more than 36, undrafted cards will be randomized.

In for 1!

Also, question on the draft:

is it #1 picks 1 and 19 or we snaking it?

This one's a little pricey for me, but if somebody wants me to sign up and then will buy my cards for, say, $205... who am I to say no?

[I kid, I kid...]

Yep, it's a case where you'll probably have between 2-4 people get their money back. Tier One's biggest differentiator from other sets are the number of 1/1's, the bat barrels, the bat knobs, and the books (usually 2 players, with autos and relics, the Ohtani/Trout one #/10 just went for like 10k). This one is definitely a gamble that most folks will lose, but the reality is almost every product is like this now. The entire industry is gambling. That's probably why I love it so much.

Yea I don't have the room to collect anything anymore, I do these breaks 100% as a gamble to hopefully fund the next one (either flip the cards or give them to my kids). It's fun as shit just participating in the madness with everyone.

Yep it's totally feeding into my gambling instincts so I'm going to pass this one. Hopefully you all get big hits!

I would like to make one request which i know isn't 100% possible - but if we could do the break before august 30th, that would be great. I'll be in Kenya for a couple weeks after that and would fuck all this up.

That works for me. The case was shipped today, so assuming everyone pays before next weekend, I'd like to open it on 8/21. The draft portion shouldn't take that long, so I would be able to ship by the 23rd or 24th.

Can’t wait to watch DotB get the 1 slot again and pull a 1 of 1 quintuple patch dual auto with a piece of napkin Babe Ruth used to wipe hot dog mustard off his face and a swatch of Joe DiMaggio’s collar with Marilyn Monroe lipstick on it.

If 17 of us all chipped in $10.27 - someone check my math on this - we could cover PE’s slot.

For all the work he’s done on these - I say it’s the least we can do. I’d be down for this.

Three spots left. If they aren't filled by Saturday evening, I'll offer second slots to those who said they'd be interested.

Also, I truly appreciate offers to chip in to pay for my slot. Completely optional though, and I don't want anyone to avoid signing up due to added cost.

I'm aiming for the break at 8pm EDT on Saturday 8/21, assuming all slots are paid by then. Sometime prior to the break, I'll run the random for draft order (likely the day before or the day of the break).
