For the replay of the final game of the 2013 world series, NESN had a "Twitter Takeover" allowing fans to interact with Victorino. Lovely to see KOJI hoisted on Papi's shoulders.

ESPN Classic seems to be hamstrung by having the tape of only a handful of games. Watch for a few days and you'll see them all.
1989 World Series games 3 an 4, both shitty blowouts
1981 World Series game 6, lousy game but good for seeing the yankees lose
1982 ALCS game 5(in a 3 out of 5 series) this is a good one
1977 World Series game 4, a pretty good one
1986 NLCS game 6, an excellent one
1980 NLCS game 5(in a 3 out of 5 series) another excellent one
and a few others. Kind of frustrating that they don't have more games but keep re-running these

NESN is currently showing 2013 WS film,
"Band of Bearded Brothers." It's actually about the whole season. Repeats at midnight tonight and one other time, I think.

I find '13 WS so much more exciting than 2004 NOW. But the '04 ALCS is exhausting to watch even today.
2004 was obviously satisfying and cathartic. 2007 was a dominant team. 2018 was the best ever. But that 2013 team and their run through the playoffs might have been the most fun of all.

What an epic squander in the top of the 8th. Bases loaded no one out. Trot, Bellhorn and Ortiz out of the game for pinch runners/hitters. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt them.

OK, so I'm combing through YouTube for classic games and decide to settle in for the 1986 ALCS pennant clinching game 7. I've re-watched Game 5 of this series a few times, but never this one. At the time this game aired I was a lonely 15-year-old, a rare Red Sox fan growing up half a world away in Iowa. A curious kid to be sure, but ignorant and naive about the world at large. Anyway, just as I pop open my first beer and prepare to wax nostalgic about one of my first tastes of Red Sox glory, the national anthem gets underway and I see this:

What in the mother of god....?
I disliked that less than I disliked her commentary. I mean, she missed a few notes and got the phrasing all wrong a few times, but as an amateur singing job I've heard far worse.

And yes, I'm so desperate for sports content that I'm willing to watch and offer my opinion on THAT.

A few nights ago FoxSports Ohio had on the 1981 All-Star Game from the old Cleveland Indians stadium (I wasn’t born yet but was gonna be in Jan ‘82 , if that tells you where I was then). Was pretty awesome seeing those now some HoF’s playing back then on the team! Got me really excited that night.

Ugh. NESN is showing Opening Day 2011, Phil Hughes v. John Lacking, who never saw his team lead without giving it away.
Now the Sox are facing Boone Logan of the 13.50 ERA. Not the best game.

On the plus side, vintage pre-career-implosion Daniel Bard is now on to bridge to Papelbon in the ninth. That man was filthy when he was going right.

Not sure if this is the right place, but DirecTV is extending the window to cancel the Extra Innings season pass to two weeks beyond Opening Day. I have seen no mention of potential refunds in the event of a cancelled or even just a shortened season, but the six installments of ~$30 were still being added to my bill dating back to last month.

Steven Tyler just ruined God Bless America. Not one of my favorites, but he murdered it dead.
Also, what's up with this game, in which both our starter, Josh Beckett, and our relievers, so far stink?
I guess the Sox are due for a heroic comeback, and that's why they're airing it.
Anyway: Opening Day 2010, v. NYY.

I just watched a few innings of an Eduardo Rodriguez-controlled Chris Sale getting roughed up by Blake Snell and the Rays.

But I also just bought a CPBLtv subscription for ~$35. I'm looking forward to supporting the Fubon Guardians, employers of former Sox farmhand Che-Hsuan Lin.

The league starts without fans this weekend, but last night's/this morning's opening game was rained out.

Yesterday, I watched a few innings of a random CPBL game from last year while I did some cooking; today I watched a few innings of the one CPBL game that has now happened this year.

The commentary is in Chinese, a language I do not speak, and the stadiums are empty. I've only watched about ten innings, but so far I would judge the biggest difference in the game to be defense, which seems to be about high-A quality. There's a fun variety of hitting approaches.

A real baseball game! From today! Highly recommended!

Tonight's victory against the Orioles was from September '03, brought to us by Todd Walker (on NESN right now) and David Ortiz. The 3-run homer by Walker in the ninth to tie the game was lovely.

Earlier, Eck talked about his first start at Fenway as a member of the Sox, Opening Day of 1978. I wasn't a fan then, didn't know he'd pitched 9.2 innings!

I liked Walker. He hit 5 home runs in the playoffs that one year he was with the Sox. I was surprised they didn't keep him around, but his departure for the Cubs led to them getting Bellhorn the next year.

Jeter never came close to touching the bag on that 5th inning 3-6 forceout. The neighborhood rule was ridiculous. I feel like we need a gamethread for this.

I never caught the “or that’s just the different between a Yankee and a Red Sox” when talking about the Boston guys near a heater as Arod and Jeter were cheering.

Did anyone notice that this was the letterboxed version that was originally broadcast and I had not seen since, not on the DVD's or any web downloads... looked great for 2004!!!

Seems like Fox has an exclusive on the true HD version of the game broadcast and doesn't let anyone else use it. Game 4 of the 2004 World Series is on MLB right now and it is the standard def (4:3) version.

So strange that with every network broadcasting in HD at this point, they wouldn't use the highest quality video that exists as much as they can. I noticed during a re-broadcast on NESN last week (I think it was a 2005 game) that DO and Remy read a promo that the game was available in HD on certain cable services. Obviously this was back when HD was not as ubiquitous but it occurred to me that if they were broadcasting in HD, even to limited markets, they must have recorded it in HD as well. Yet they were using the SD footage.
