This is what happens often when you take a young team on the road. The team will grow from this. It needed some humble pie. No doubt Daz will have them ready to play against Temple.

Why did they need humble pie again? They beat UMass, Holy Cross, and Wake Forest. Daz won’t have them prepared any differently next week. They’ll just be playing a worse opponent and will look better because of it.

Daz is a fraud. Sick and tired of this loser. He needs to go.

This ain’t that young of a team, Daz. It’s year 6 and you have said they are “loaded”. It was time to shine on the big stage.....and you laid an egg. Nice

I think you guys may have missed the sarcasm/mockery in that post.

On a serious note, it looks to me like Dillon is a real liability on passing downs. He’s not a receiving threat whatsoever, and he’s pretty unimpressive pass blocking.

On the plus side the ACC Atlantic is absolutely pathetic this year, as was the OOC schedule. So they still should get to 8 or 9 wins

Pretty fortunate call on the overturn of the first down. I think he may have been a foot short, but just not sure how there was definitive evidence he was short, unless they had a much better angle than the TV showed

Doesn't matter as Brown throws yet another Interception

For a program like BC and what he started with, I think he has done a fine job
I think the best thing you can say about Addazio is that he is very talented at self-preservation. He’s done a fine job at keeping his job. Which means, his teams beat the cupcakes consistently.

After today, he is 34-34 overall, but only 27-34 against FBS teams, 15-26 in conference play, and just 18-33 against P5 and ND.

That means he’s gone 16-1 against FCS and non-P5/ND teams, with the only loss to Colorado State.

And drilling the numbers down a bit more from The Needler, Daz is 8-13 against P5 opponents since 2016. I decided to track it from there as everyone said he had dog bleep to work with when he got here. Ok, I will give you a 3 year year pass. We won’t hold it against him for the 2013, 14 and 15 seasons as he was “rebuilding”.

But since 2016? That’s his team. There is a reason he would rather play UMass and Holy Cross and not play a Cal, Northwestern or a Texas. His record would be worse cuz he knows more often than not they would lose those games, especially on the road. The whole thing is a joke. They have one more G5 game and then it’s all conference. Let’s see where he ends up versus the P5. That’s the real test, not the inflated totals against Holy Cross, UMass, Buffalo and Wagner. If he isn’t over .500 against the P5 on his schedule, he needs to go. Still maintain he needs 16 wins between this year and last year, including bowls. He’s got 10. He’s gotta go at least 5-3 from this pint out and win the bowl game or go 6-2 in the regular season to keep his job.

2 questions:

A: Of course they drop out of the Top 25. But are they going to show up in the Others Receiving Votes section at all?

B: If Dillon declares for the draft, how high does he go? Obviously a great runner but if his blocking and receiving skills are as bad as they seem does he still go high? Can those skills be taught?

Certainly not more than a handful (fewer than five). There are lots of 3-1 teams that have played much better schedules so far, have better wins, and a better loss, and have not received votes yet.

Computer rating system general consensus is about #40, and I’d bet that’s about how voters see them, too.

EDIT: I stand corrected. 8 points in the Coaches Poll (#44). But zero votes in the AP.

A: I think we're 3-4 wins in-a-row from getting back to the Top 25.

B: Dillon isn't eligible until the 2020 draft so still plenty of time for him to work on his warts. To me, he profiles as a solid 2nd/3rd round pick. I don't think pass catching will ever be a big part of his game so he's likely a 2 down back in the NFL. There's no reason why he should be as remedial in pass blocking as he is other than lack of experience. Not sure if he'll ever get that experience in a Daz offense though.

Hysterical....they've been a "young team" every year of Daz's tenure. Needed some humble pie, good Lord, they haven't beaten 3 really bad teams.

Daz will have them "ready" for Temple because Temple fucking sucks. Beating crap teams is the only thing he's good at.

BC is committing to upgrade its athletics:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/colleges/2018/09/27/launches-major-initiative-improve-its-sports-programs/XXJ4JL7todusIAuizCYwxI/story.html

Below is the Powerpoint that was used in the presentation. Its a big commitment and it begs the question if the current coaching staff in both football and basketball is what you want to hitch your wagon to. It reinforces my thought that Addazio is on short leash and he has to get to 16 wins between last year and this year to survive.

special teams still a disaster between being unwilling to even try a 41 yard fg and then terrible blocking and a fumble on rekick after a penalty

BC has been very fortunate so far with the interception called back, and then the 4th down bonehead penalty on Temple setting up 14 points.

Now Temple drops a deep pass

32 offensive snaps for BC in the first quarter and they trail 14-13

Temple with a couple awful turnover, one a killer when they had all the momentum and driving, and wide open receiver missed easy pass and directed it for an easy pick.

Anyway BC back up 31-21. This really is just an awful brand of football against a pretty weak opponent, why am I watching any of it

Clemson QB injury opens up another chance at a 9 win season. (j/k)

BC's not beating VT or NC State

Up by 3 with 6 minutes left and you're snapping the ball with 30 seconds on the playclock in order to handoff, daz is the best

This team has good athletes but bad in game coaching. Hasn’t changed in 6 years. They will not win 8 or more games. Daz will never reach 9 wins no matter who is on the roster.

I think we have seen enough of him. Time to buy him out at the end of the year. It will cost somewhere around $4.5M.

Not saying BC is good but why is NC State ranked?
Why shouldn't they be? They're 4-0 and every computer system has them as top 25 (Sagarin 20; Colley 10; Massey 14; Football Outsiders S&P 24, etc.). What do you know that the pollsters and the computers don't?

They’re collectively significantly better than the teams BC has played, as well as the teams about half of the teams ranked higher than them have played, including teams with a loss. Of course you know all of the computer systems take opponent quality into account.

Why was BC ranked when it had beaten UMass, Holy Cross, and Wake Forest?

I don’t think the computer systems are very telling this early in the season when there’s so much noise and teams can jump significantly game to game. One of the reasons I don’t think there should be any rankings really until after 5 or 6 games. Helps prevent anchoring bias as well.

Early-season rankings in general are pretty bad, and the 20-25 range in the early season rankings are virtually meaningless (see BC as a perfect example). That said, NC State is definitely a better team than BC at this point in the season.

Is there anyone who doesn't think NC State is going to cover 6.5 spread tomorrow? If I were in Vegas, I'd be all over NC State on this one, especially with Dillon hobbling.

Wasn't the year BC was supposed to be relevant? Getting blownout at the half by NC St. NCST goes through BC defense like hot knife through butter. Fortunately there have been a few bad turnovers to keep it relatively close.

So if BC is going to be a pure passing team now, Shouldn't they switch to EJ Perry? Brown has his moments, but in general he is a pretty poor QB for this level of competition. At least in terms of pure passing ability

If this season is now a wash, and I think it pretty much is, I'd rather they leave Brown in at least for this season to see if he can improve on that aspect of his game. If he doesn't, you can always start Perry next year after he has an offseason of first-team snaps (and, potentially, a new head coach).

NCST is 7/10 on 3rd down. I thought Steve-O was a defensive specialist.

If you're talking about them becoming a pure passing team in this game, then I agree with you. Not sure how they come back at this point trying to run the ball, so why not bring in Perry and see if he can provide a spark? Brown obviously isn't getting it done right now. And I'm not just saying that because Perry is from my hometown, and his father (and high school coach) is my son's teacher. He can throw.
