I don't remember the exact specifics but that last play at the plate reminded me of that A's/Sox ALDS game at Fenway, the outcome flipping three times in like twenty seconds.

Why didnt they just save the pitches and walk Arozarena?

Also, minor, but the rays damn near ran on the field to celebrate almost an inch away from actual live play

So. Brett Phillips until now was known for the strongest throw ever on Statcast, 104 MPH in 2017. 16th lowest in Z-Contact rate among active players this August at 76.4%. And now? A walkoff hero. I love baseball.

Phillips running around the outfield like a drunken fan out of the stands being chased by security is just awesome.

Eric Byrnes hobbled away after Varitek blocked the plate, which is something you'd never see nowadays.

Unreal game. It's a shame this game ended well past midnight for so many. In a sport that needs fans, you can't have games ending at 1130pm+ for almost half the country. This was a game that would have brought in so many fans... yet, most probably went to bed in the 5th.

I mean, this play is really pushing it. That’s about as bad of a play by a catcher as I can recall, he flat out missed a throw.
True, but Arozarena running around third and forcing the throw home was a key to the Keystone Cops aspect. And then falling down. Maybe the catcher was distracted. Why else would he miss a perfect throw?

I was taken aback by the Rays players who rushed onto the field toward third to celebrate, it looked like the ball was still live???

Dodgers just don’t have it in them.
Well, it will be really interesting to see what they do in the next game.

One of the seemingly only 6 games that MLB network has tape of and have been running over and over since March is game 4 of the 1988 NLCS. The Mets threatened to go up 3 games to 1 but the Dodgers pulled it out with a come from behind victory thanks to game tying Mike Scioscia and go ahead Kirk Gibson homers. It only tied the series 2-2 but it still felt like the Dodgers were almost certain to win it and they did.

After the Red Sox beat the Angels in the famous Dave Henderson game in the 1986 alcs, they were still down 3 games to 2 and yet it somehow felt like they were certain to win and they did.

It will be very interesting to see what the Dodgers do in the next game.
