It's a good show, but if they wanted to really do it right it needed to be an hour long. There's no flow within the episodes.

Completely agree. 30 minutes just isn't enough time to get into anything in any real depth. Next year...

Claude is a superstar. Tonight's show has been the best yet so far between him telling Thornton that he can't fight if asked against Ottawa, and him yelling out "TAKE YOUR FUCKING SKIRT OFF!" to someone, it's been a virtuoso performance so far.

I wish I could figure out who he was said the skirt line to. I thought he said "Jay" but I have no idea who that is.

Claude handing out his fighting orders was great. Told Thornton nope, and Lucic "if it's anyone on the Smith line, no. You can tell them coach says no."

I heard "Jay" as well. Not sure who that is, but if it's a Bruin I would have to guess Boychuk.

That was my guess. By process of elimination.

Speaking of polite, just watched what I guess were the first three eps of this year on NHLNet and was most amused by the note to "marchy" from "bergy" on the occasion of his traditional gift to teammates after his contract.

It is really hard to imagine guys in other sports handwriting each other notes and its another reason I think hockey players are the most relatable athletes

Just got around to watching Episode 9. Starts off quick with Marchand's goal against Dallas and then this exchange at the bench :

Ref: He was blowing kisses at him the whole night.
Marchand: 1 Time!
Claude: He can't do that?

I'm just starting to watch it from the beginning. It's painful because not only does the camera work suck, I do sound for these kinds of shows and it appears they haven't hired sound. There aren't mics on people in the meetings and the sound is terrible. Does it get better? This production looks to me like it was done for $1.75 and some free cheese fries. They need to hire me and have an actual professional production.

Anyone have a good way to download these things so i can watch them online.  I have a long cross country flight coming up and these would be perfect to pass the time on my kindle.  I usually use deturl but its failing for these.

FIOS was good about that last year. Also, before I DVR'd them, they were usually on demand within 24 hours of airing.

I love the draft table chatter. "We need skill! We keep saying we don't have any skill! The other guys going to be a 3rd or 4th round guy, let's go for the home run!" It's like they were reading RMPS.

They could probably fill the whole season up just following Pastrnak around, even if he doesn't make the team.

Kinda bummed they only showed Seidenberg's exit interview.

Edit: The front office also loves Pastrnak.

Marchand singing Justin Timberlake on the bench during the Black and Gold scrimmage might be my new favorite moment in the history of Behind the B.

I disliked him because of the UML thing, but reading his blog and seeing his work (and hearing his mouth) have given me a new appreciation.

They are posted on the Bruins website.

The Robins segment when he was screaming at Chimera (I think) reminded me of 24/7 when Sestito was telling the Rangers how he was going to kill them and Brad Richards chirped back asking him if this was fantasy camp.

New season starts tonight at 6 with an hour long episode. Would be nice if it was an hour going forward but it'll probably be back to the 30 minute format with episode 2. Anyway, if you want to relive missing the playoffs and the off-season (and who doesn't!) tonight's your night.

It'll be 10 minutes of front office moves and trades. Then 50 minutes of hey look at Ryan Spooner's cute dog. Typical summer fluff of the players getting in shape and all that.

Any guesses on who the pick that got away in a previous draft that Gretzky says he "learned" from was?

That 30 seconds was the most interesting part of the whole thing. "I know it's early, but I learned with...."

I did some research. Gretzky was with Arizona from 06-12. Here are their first round picks with Gretzky in charge:

2006: 8th, Peter Mueller; 29th Chris Summers. Philly took Giroux 22nd. It is possible that Gretzky wanted Giroux at 8 but thought he could get him at 29.

2007: 3rd, Kyle Turris. Turris was rated as the #1 NA skater headed into the draft. Notables that went after him are Logan Couture, Jakub Voracek and Kevin Shattenkirk.

2008: 8th, Mikael Boedker. Boedker wasn't in the top 10 of the final CS rankings. They missed on Erik Karlsson and Jordan Eberle, but Boedker was a reach to begin with so I don't think this is it.

2009: 6th, OEL.

2010: 13th, Brandon Gormley; 27th Mark Visentin. They had 13 and 22, ended up trading down from 22. Tarasenko went 16th. Maybe they wanted Tarasenko, but I'm not sure this jives with Gretzky's quote.

2011: 20th Connor Murphy

2012: 27th, Henrik Samuelsson

I think it was Claude Giroux. Giroux wasn't rated highly. Maybe they loved him more than Mueller, but got sucked in to the rankings, took Mueller thinking they could get Giroux at 29. Hits some check marks. Gretzky's first year running the draft, Giroux would've been an off the board pick, etc. The other option is Tarasenko, but I don't think it was him. He was always highly rated but slid due to the Russian factor. Maybe they wanted him and panicked when Gormley fell, but I don't think this fits Gretzky's quote and what they were discussing.

Last night's episode is worth seeking out just for the Marchand factor. He was pretty damn hilarious for a solid 5-10 mins stretch.
