I misread that as him stepping in for Gorman at first and was horrified. But this is big changes for the studio show, with Tommy passing, Blakely and Chin laid off and Draper gone. Is anyone other than Forsberg left?

All the airtime they’ve given to Michael Holley has been pretty well spent.
when that roundtable discussion show "sports tonight" or whatever it's called, wasn't it originally three or four hours long, m-f?
was channel surfing the other day and it was now a total of one hour, then repeated a couple times

oof

Maybe that's why Holley now has the bandwidth to do the "Brother from another Mother" show with Michael Smith on Peacock. I just assumed the mothership moved him to another NBC property and he was no longer doing Sports Tonight.

shrinking the show to one hour wasn't pandemic related?

Yes, it was. I believe it originated pre-Covid as 8-11 or 9-12, but it was 3 hours in length, as I recall. Even then, it seemed to me to be a stretch. There was significant repetition and revisiting some topics at least twice within an episode.

Less "Pardon the Interruption", more like "Pardon us Chilling on the Couch Giving You Our Thoughts on Everything in Sports All Goddamn Evening."

Is anyone familiar with how contracts work? For example, Holley's show shrunk from three hours to one hour, does his salary get adjusted accordingly?

Listened to Greg Hill and Co. for about a minute this morning. They were interviewing some dickface who got busted having a party at his house with 50-100 people at it. Blacked out windows, etc., to try to avoid people noticing. "Apparently this is communist China where you can't have people over to your house," hur, hur, hur.

Basically, the whole station is now a bunch of covid hoaxers. It's brutal.

Entercom has been revising their sports station lineups this week...might be some bombs about to drop at EEI.

Boston Radio Watch is a great follow on twitter, speculating that Tanguay and Gresh might be in, with the old dudes in midday and afternoons out.

Sounds like a smart plan...upgrade from a lineup suited for 1999 to a lineup suited for 2006.

Who are cohosts of 98.5 middays who have been fired for $200?

I think we've reached the point where this dying medium can no longer support 2 major stations in even the most historically passionate sports markets. Wouldn't be surprised to see EEI change formats in the not too distant future. It seems like not many people under 40 give a shit at all about sports talk radio.

News flash: not many over 40 do either.

curran's troll game is pretty strong, wonder if he just sees the swirls of gossip and was having fun with it. although that'd be a pretty shitty thing to drop on mut as a "joke"

Doesn't sound like he's making an issue of his age (I think he's just using it as an identifier as he's not mentioning Arnold by name). "Shilville hack" is the money shot.

Did you recently move to Boston?
No, I've been in the area for 13 years, but I don't really listen to radio or follow these guys too closely. I know Carr is a douche (at least publicly) -- but I thought that he only attacks people he has a beef with. Maybe you could clarify?

Carr is 5 years older than Arnold, so I dont't really get the ageist crack
Probably because Carr is an asshole of the highest order.

edit: I don't think it's actually an ageist crack, but the age provides enough description for everyone to know exactly who he's referring to.

It is odd that Entercom would consider their best options to compete agaist 98.5 are two hosts that couldn't make it on 98.5.

Like that's so strange

I'm not sure anyplace that has Wallach and Murray has set the bar terribly high, either...

I typically assume these retreads always resurface because they have some name recognition but work for cheap. I doubt they think they’ll take on 98.5 with their retreads just business decisions about cost

Gresch must work for free.
