1:22:30 -- Belichick decides to take an intentional safety against the Broncos... three years before the famous one that led to the amazing comeback in Denver. It didn't work out as well back in 2000, as Deltha O'Neal returns the ensuing punt 87 yards for the score.

1:35:30 -- Bledsoe throws a goal line quick out to Terry Glenn that looks exactly like the Brady-to-Givens touchdown in the aforementioned 2003 game. Funny how history repeats itself.

It's sad that 2000 was Bruce Armstrong's last year in the NFL. That guy deserved a ring.

As one of the comments notes, Phil Simms and his sunny moon commentary never ceases to amaze, given the powers of retrospection:

“[Bledsoe]’s a franchise quarterback. What are you going to do? So let’s just think about it: So you get rid of Drew Bledsoe, now who’s going to come in and play? Name him. Go ahead, who’s out there? You know these quarterbacks don’t float around. You going to draft somebody, and play, and stink up the joint for a couple of years before he’s ready to win?”

Fairly ironic to have the first win come in Denver after an 0-4 start given just how much the Pats have sucked there over the years.

He was still bitter about Jeff Hostetler winning that SB.

Yet another example of his brilliance as a coach. Rather than being mindlessly results-oriented or concerned about criticism for trying such an unorthodox move again, as so many coaches would be, he understood and relied upon the integrity of the logic.

As part of the local radio coverage for this game one of the commentators opined that after Belichick's inevitable firing in New England he'd make a good Broncos' Defensive Coordinator. So I guess he has that going for him.

2:07:00, already hurting from a torn labrum, Brian Griese damn near ends his own career on a meaningless end-of-game bomb. RIP Brian.
