Bluetooth Interference?

I'm stumped, hoping for any help.

I've got a pair of JLab Epic Air Sport Wireless Bluetooth 5 Earbuds I use with my iPhone 13. Pretty much no issues whatsoever except one, specific scenario. If I'm wearing my buds with my phone in my pocket and working around the house, it seems like there are pockets where the audio pauses. Two places I've found are underneath my side deck right outside my walk out basement door. The router is probably fewer than 20 feet from that spot on a direct line. Another place is in a corner of the pool patio that's closer to 75-100 feet from the router. I suspected some wifi interference/cutout, but I am almost always listening to downloaded podcasts. I've also tried turning off wifi on my phone, but it doesn't resolve it. Sometimes it just takes a second and it unpauses itself. Other times, I have to pull manually unpause.

The only other device I connect the buds to is a BT dongle for the basement tv so I can watch tv while working out. However, I turn the dongle off when I'm done, so it's not trying to connect to that, either. I never have to reconnect the buds to my phone, just resume playing.

It's not a new thing; probably been happening in some form or another since I got the buds 18 months ago, but when I'm doing yard work it's a giant PITA.

I had something vaguely like that where every time I would walk by a certain specific house on my normal loop, it would often pause the music I was listening to on my bluetooth earbuds. I sort of assumed it was a faulty device in their house that was interfering. The earbuds died and I never figured it out though.

I was going to ask you how you turn off the BT dongle - like are you sure it's really off and not in some sleep mode because that side deck / basement door area could be near the basement TV? But that still would not explain the other location on the pool patio.

Is there an app for controlling JLab devices? I can't remember.

It's all the way off, but I did see there's a jlab app (1.4 stars!). Is there a setting I should be looking for?

I don't know (?) - maybe something about persistent connections or disabling inputs?

None of it really makes sense, so I doubt there is going to be a satisfying ending to this :(
