Put your complaints about fixture congestion away, because it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Leicester City and Man United get things started. At least a game day until January 4th. Except for NYE.

Bruno responsible for both goals- nice little ball to get Rashford in, then a clumsy touch to cough it up in his own box for the Barnes goal.

If I could have any one player in the league to built a team around it might have to be Bruno (that goof notwithstanding). He just shreds defenses. He wins the middle of the park all by himself.

Yeah the flag went up.

Fair result though United had a few chances they squandered. Rashford had 2 himself that he should have buried.

Players from both sides look knackered. This is only the start of the holiday fixture list.

D'you think United will sign a central defender in the transfer window? They look a top 4 side with a mid table defence. Where's the next Rio Ferdinand?

Where is anybody really going to come from? Isn’t Brexit making it nearly impossible to bring anybody in that doesn’t have a work visa? Anybody domestic will therefore be prohibitively expensive for mediocre talent.

You're right about the work visa thing. How much effect on the cost of home grown talent I'm not sure. Fair to say it's a seller's market though.

This article provides some info on what's going regarding the issue of player transfers. It's a few weeks old and i know some deals have recently been done re: UK and the European Union.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12149187/brexits-effect-on-premier-league-transfer-window-would-paul-pogba-and-cesc-fabregas-have-still-signed
Football authorities have agreed a plan of entry requirements for overseas players with the Government. The Football Association, the Premier League and the English Football League submitted a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) proposal last month, which has now been approved by the Home Office.

The criteria will provide the framework for clubs to sign overseas players when the UK leaves the European Union after December 31.

The criteria were based on the player's appearances in international matches and their country's FIFA rankings. The higher number of appearances and the higher the nation's ranking, the more points the player in question will have.

A player from a top-10 FIFA-ranked country who has featured in over 50 per cent of that nation's matches in the last two years would enable a player to sign for a Premier League club with a GBE. But for those players representing lower-ranked countries, they will have had to have played almost all matches in order to score enough points.

The article goes into more detail but it looks designed to allow some semblance of free trade with the bigger Europeans Leagues and clubs.

you’re missing the bigger point. Now all those great British youngsters who for a generation have been blocked by foreign imports will now break into the EPL, become world class, and lead England to the World Cup.

Guaita may be the worst positional keeper I have ever seen, but he makes a ton of saves. I can’t tell if this is a statistical anomaly that will come back to bite him or if it’s a skill.

Oh i thought Grealish was though there. The defender did well to put him off his stride.

The Palace away kit is really nice.

Looks like a stonewall penalty here by Matty Cash on van Aanholt

edit: On one angle it looks like Cash does graze the ball - no penalty given after Taylor took a look. Tough on Palace but ultimately probably the right call. The process... worked?

If this decision rests on a super slow-no, 6 angle review of whether Cash grazed the ball with his sock...then is there really a clear and obvious mistake?

good no call. Unless you’re @candylandriots

I read this post, tabbed back to the game, and saw Guaita challenging Ollie Watkins for a header outside his own area

How do they decide who gets to be the guy behind the wall blocking low? Seems like a good gig - unlikely to take one off the face, but definite chance of being stepped on or fallen over.

Yeah...we're at 9 unanswered goals at this point, so I was hoping for a little help there...

Zaha totally shithoused Mings off the pitch after he already should have seen red. Poorly done by Taylor.

Agree, I think Palace kits are consistently among the best.

This season across the home/away/third kits I just saw Southampton's third on today's highlights and they're right up there. Brighton and Everton also.

This season has my favorite Palace kits since I started paying attention.

It all seems like hard work for Palace. Lumpen build up play. Players falling over. They really need to make Villa work a bit harder.

Poor showing by Palace. I don't know enough about the side to say what they should have changed in the second half to make more use of the extra man, but i expected more from them going forward.

Arsenal lineup looks... rough. Assuming 5ATB:

Leno
Bellerin - Holding - Mari - Tierney - Saka
Xhaka - Elneny
Smith-Rowe
Lacazette - Martinelli

Aubameyang, Ceballos, Maitland-Niles, Pepe among those on the bench

For Chelsea:

Mendy
James - Silva - Zouma - Chilwell
Kante - Kovacic
Werner - Mount - Pulisic
Abraham

Havertz, Giroud, CHO, Gilmour, etc on the bench

Surprised Chelsea is risking Pulisic against a bottom feeder during such a busy time.
Sometimes tough to break down teams who are in a relegation scrap. Also Lampard was talking about how they've taken their foot off the gas when playing so called lesser teams that they ought to beat. He's here for three points.
