He did pretty well at Butler. If Zarren leaves this is not good. What has Brad Stevens demonstrated as a talent evaluator?
He found Gordon Hayward when he was 6’4”If Zarren leaves this is not good. What has Brad Stevens demonstrated as a talent evaluator?
Well, he definitely has the fresh face thing going on.Yeah, they aren’t firing Ainge to bring in someone who worked with him. It will be a fresh face and a new approach. That guy won’t be tied to any of Ainge’s recent draft picks so a huge shakeup will be a coming.
He recruited the players who took Butler to the National Championship Game. I mean, that’s a pretty huge feather in ones cap as far as talent evaluation. If Zarren leaves this is not good. What has Brad Stevens demonstrated as a talent evaluator?
Bingo...he knew Ainge was on thin ice.Well we know why he turned down 7/70 from IU.
My guess is Stevens is basically the Celtics equivalent of Theo and they would rather keep him as a personnel and basketball ideology mind than lose him to a college program.I hate this.
He did a great job at Butler, and over-exceeded expectations the first couple of years, but don't get this at all.
Given Brad's likely relationship with Tatum and Brown, and the way the league works, it'd be fireable if they didn't have any input.Wow.
Who's on the coaching shortlist? Will Tatum/Brown get any say? Do they know enough about other coaches to have any knowledge?
Meh. We said the same about drafting Brown and the "high floor/low ceiling" Tatum.Hmmm... I'm not sure this makes very much sense at all.
I don't think there is any doubt that Danny got shitcannedI think Danny got shitcanned and was given the ability to save face and "step down". This has obviously been in the making for a while. Especially true if Danny doesn't retire.
Theo was groomed for a GM job since law school and groomed for a job with the Red Sox basically since his bar mitzvah. Why do people hate it? Like we have any clue how Stevens the GM will be. Give him a chance.
Why do we need a big name GM or established GM? Sometimes going with a Theo is the right move.
edit: And I'm not even a Brad Stevens fan.
Sure. But since they've never played for anyone else, what can they really provide except "this is what i want"? It's not like Tatum/Brown didn't have freedom under Brad. He has to get some credit for them.Given Brad's likely relationship with Tatum and Brown, and the way the league works, it'd be fireable if they didn't have any input.
I would imagine there's an internal scoreboard over who was better at draft/player evaluations the past few years. Guessing Brad did better and built capital. If Brad shivved Ainge in secret with Wyc, this is an all-time Godfather moment. I’m actually laughing.
It’s interesting for sure. I don’t mind it either. Brad is obv a strong basketball mind I was just never sure he was the best fit as an NBA Head Coach. This role may actually better suit him.Why do people hate it? Like we have any clue how Stevens the GM will be. Give him a chance.

There's rumors he's interested in working with Utah.I think Danny got shitcanned and was given the ability to save face and "step down". This has obviously been in the making for a while. Especially true if Danny doesn't retire.
How do we know Stevens hasn't been being groomed by Ainge? And I don't think the GM job is much different than being a HC at a college. He was doing all the recruiting and talent evaluation anyway.Theo was groomed for a GM job since law school and groomed for a job with the Red Sox basically since his bar mitzvah.
Pretty much would guarantee Donovan is a Celtic in 3-4 years, so I'm all for it.There's rumors he's interested in working with Utah.
I think once his comments came out about players and their irrelevant voices became widely known, and his lack or awareness of racial tension, he was a dead man Euro-stepping.So did Danny step down or was Danny getting shitcanned?
Setting up the Kevin McHale.Pretty much would guarantee Donovan is a Celtic in 3-4 years, so I'm all for it.
