Be careful what you wish for. Same thing with Claude.

while this is fair to say now. Would it be like this if they had hired Shero, or another guy who had experience as a GM? I mean this is as bad as it gets. I think they made the wrong hire.

I'm a little disappointed in my current salary. Anyone want to fight me in front of the Garden in the hopes that one of us can get a two year deal?

Let's not leave Neely out of this shit show. Sweeney is his guy. As much as we hammer Sweeney for this cluster fuck, Neely is right there with him. Let's see if Charlie Jacobs has the balls to fire him in 3 years if these guys suck as much as it looks like they're going too.

Whoa whoa whoa, let's not start with the crazy talk.

He could be equally as bad.

I'll do it.

The way I figure it, this is a team that employed Gregory Campbell, so even when I get my ass kicked, I still have a chance at a 2 year deal with an NMC.

Who's next Matt Cooke?  2 more years at $850 per.  I fucking hate that guy and putting him in black and gold won't change that.  Plus they traded a 3rd round pick for a guy that should be a healthy scratch 70 out of 82 games.

Insanity.
Matt Cooke could at least play a little

Rinaldo has not shown at any time ever that he has anything resembling hockey skill.

Ray Shero got a 20 goal scorer for a 2nd rounder  :kitty:

Does someone want to tell the Bruins front office that Eichel and McDavid won't be available next year, too?

Can you skate, not score goals and sit on the 9th floor for 3/4 of the season?

I wouldn't be surprised if they announce tomorrow that Senyshen is the third round pick going to Philly.

I'm going to call it first: Sweeney is tanking for a top 2 pick.  The following things will happen:

Pre Pre-season: Everyone (including NESN) is overly optimistic about this team "they're contenders!"
Pre-season: This is just rust.  They're learning to play with each other, they'll come together
October: (2-6-1): Pressure on coach to improve the team, citing the team's "raw talent"
November: (3-8-1): Claude scapegoated and fired before Thanksgiving.  Run out with a bunch of post-firing articles that say he "lost the team"
December(3-9-2): Veterans have all but given up.  Eriksson dealt for 60 cents on the dollar
January(5-7-1): B's get destroyed 5-1 in the Classic.
February(7-6-1): B's somehow have a somewhat decent month.  Pre-trade deadline this allows them to jettison Smith, Savard's contract, and one other player managing to perform decently despite being located in a trash fire
March(who cares at this point): Articles start appearing criticizing the Bruins for tanking.
April: The season mercifully ends.  The B's limp to a 25-48-9 record and lose the lottery, getting a #2 pick, which Sweeney will immediately trade for a mid 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, and someone who managed to score 15 whole goals in the 15-16 season.

Edit: typos

3 years later, they trade the #2 pick for a few jags because of his personality / life-style for a bag of pucks.

They way things are going, they'll finish with the worst record in the league, but Edmonton will still get the number 1 pick.

After the debacle of Friday, I was joking with my friend who is a Leaf fan that I would be rooting for the Leafs this year.

I'm joking even less now.

Zac Rinaldo.    They gave up a pick for Zac Rinaldo.

So, they traded Dougie instead of paying him or making him a QO because they didn't like possibility of getting a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, and a 3rd round pick in compensation for a 1st, a 2nd, and another 2nd. So are we to take it now that the Boston Bruins management doesn't value 3rd round picks at all? I don't care much for 3rd round picks either, but this is incredible. I cannot believe the last 12 months....

This team honestly thinks that grit and toughness and intimidation wins games. They have (had) Bergeron, Lucic, and Chara, who all are tough AND very good, and they mis-attribute their success to that toughness. They have Marchand, who is a "pest" but is also their best goalscorer, and mis-attribute his success to that element of his game. When they were successful they had Shawn Thornton who everyone loved and his main purpose was to hit some people.

If Rinaldo was Shawn Thornton or a less-good version of Marchand, that wouldn't be so bad. There's certainly something to be said for leadership and agitation can be helpful at times. But he's not. He has no actual hockey skill and he takes dumb dangerous shots which get him suspended, where he has to watch the game from somewhere he can have zero influence on it. No team is going to put their better players out there when he's on the ice, because he is no danger to score.

I was basically done giving money to this team before today, but now I'm done watching until there is a change in the front office.

I wouldn't take Rinaldo even if we were getting the 3rd rounder with him and giving up nothing.

Young players fuck you, skill players fuck you, good players fuck you.

Fans, fuck you.

Stock is likable and not prone to intentionally injuring fellow players.

this really isn't that far off from acquiring Matt Cooke. I hope Rinaldo gets the shit booed out of him by Bruins fans.

At least PJ didn't try to maim people every shift. I'd rather have him. At 45 or however old PJ is now.

This is truly amazing. We've managed to replace Gregory Campbell with the one player in the league that was actually worse than him. And paid a 3rd round pick to do so.

I posted a few weeks ago that I had no idea which way they'd go. I never imagined this. And we still have no clue where they're headed.

I'm picturing a four way absolute rag dolling where people are throwing punches that start in Charlestown. Maybe once we're done some of these moves will start to make sense.

No PJ was a much better light weight fighter who couldn't play hockey.  Rinaldo can hit but can't really fight. Looks like he is 0-5 lifetime against Brandon Prust and about 30% overall in his fighting career at least according to hockeyfights.com.

He might be better than Gregory Campbell at fighting but that is about it.

They had to give a third round pick for Rinaldo to outbid the only other team that wanted him, the Charlestown Chiefs.
Next move: a second rounder to the Syracuse Bulldogs for Ogie Ogilthorpe.

Is there still a setting in Hockey where you win a fight and all of a sudden all your guys skate faster and pass more sharply for a while?
