Andy Brickley's potty mouth
It's actually not that ridiculous. Claude and the Bruins demand different things from players than the Flyers do. I don't doubt for a second that Claude will not tolerate the bullshit that went on in Philly and the Bruins have a much more stable locker room with guys like Chara and Bergeron to be accountable to.

I could see Claude getting the most out of a player like Rinaldo.

Well, it doesn't really say what you are implying. Kalman was saying that Claude was able to calm down Marchand's antics a bit, and used last year's lack of a behavioral suspension or benching as a basis for his argument that he might be able to calm down Rinaldo's antics. Kalman goes on to say the 3rd round pick was too much, that it puts pressure on Rinaldo to justify it, and then closes with the fact that the guy hasn't scored more than 10 goals in any season (OHL included) and that it's pretty unlikely he ever justifies the 3rd round pick cost. Then he closes it with a "well maybe they can make the 3rd round pick at the later end of the round".

This was more an article on the hope of Claude changing his shitty horrible dickhead reputation, and not about Claude magically turning into a 3rd line player.

Rinaldo is going to drive Claude nuts. I can't wait for him to inevitably bench him because he's a shithead who sucks and Sweeney trying to pressure him into playing him because he gave away a 3rd.

Frankly, I will hate Rinaldo right up until the time he decks a Canadiens player. Then I will love him. But I'm a whore for causing pain to Habs players, so that's like pointing out water is wet.

Time will tell, I guess. He's said the same stuff before. He's had plenty of chances. He's garbage.

Maybe Claude is the Rinaldo-whisperer. I doubt it.

Really good takedown by Stanley Cup of Chowder.  Probably preaching to the choir here, but well-done all the same.

Matt Kalman of CBS Boston produced this article on Rinaldo's arrival in Boston today - a piece that's desperately trying to talk up the human (career)-wrecking ball as a viable addition to the Bruins, but that contains one quote that is both jaw-dropping in its hype and horrfying in its inaccuracy:

"The Bruins see Rinaldo as a combination of Thornton's fighting, Campbell's shot blocking and Paille's penalty killing"
The trouble is, not only is Rinaldo not a "combination" of three players whose status as the defensive legends that were the "Merlot Line" (a line still much-loved by Boston fans) - he wasn't even close to any of them individually.

Rinaldo has Campbell's fighting ability, Thornton's PK ability, and Paille's ability to score on the breakaway.
