Good value for a bottom pair defensemen with some upside. They just need to figure a way to move out from Kevan Miller now.

Love this signing.

Since this doesn't kick in til after this season, does this void his waiver exemption for this season? Cause otherwise, by my count, they have 9 defenseman on one-way deals. And Vaak is ready to play. Moore being on LTIR for half the season will help, but someone's gotta go. Maybe 2 someones.

I think to open the year, Vaakanainen starts in Providence - if he blows them away at camp, my assumption is they have a deal in place to move Miller and Clifton / Kampfer become D 7-8

Chara - McAvoy
Krug - Carlo
Grzelcyk - Clifton
Miller / Kampfer
Moore on LTIR

Related - is Chara going to be ready to start the year? I wouldn't mind him being de-facto LTIR'd til January or something

edit: to answer the initial question, Clifton is still 2-way for this year and is not subject to waivers IIRC

If he comes in healthy, I think Miller could be a training camp trade a la McQuaid.

Love the Clifton signing. Good value there.

Sweeney is really good. Granted, most of the work is done in finding a guy like this, but also in recognizing that he's going to be eager to lock in some future earnings as someone who came upon a role through a less traditional path.

Love this signing.

In terms of Vaak, I think he spends a good bit of time in Providence next he. He struggled badly down the stretch last season and needs to get better

I hope they can keep Miller - last year's finals showed that when you face a team that plays a hard game, you need some ability to push back.
